Absolute pleasure to cook up a storm @hopperslondon last sunday. Here is our Cornish picked crab & green mango miang with kumquats, lime, peanuts, coconut and dried shrimp. After a few weeks of back and forth texting ideas between me and the awesome @karancooks it was great fun to see our thoughts come together onto the plate. The Hoppers #hopperssundaysessions is a fantastic shared dining experience and very fun to be part of - donŌĆÖt miss out on the next one, I certainly wonŌĆÖt. It was a pleasure to eat at fellow Michellin Bib Gourmand 2019 receiver Hong Khao Tom Pla's restaurant last night in Phuket Old Town - named after their signature dish, fish congee. They graciously sat us for a late dinner 5 minutes before they were due to close!
We woolfed down Kai Lan Moo Grop (stir fried Kai Lan with crispy pork) which was smoky, sweet and salty, and Talay Pad Pongari (curried prawns, squid and crispy fish thickened with egg) which was rich and spicy. Bo...th were absolutely delicious.
They were surprised (and pleased!) At how quickly we ate, probably not expecting it from a couple of tired sweaty farang who melted off the street into their establishment.
Five minutes later we were witness and first attending to a road traffic accident involving three adults and two children left unconscious and bleeding, when 2 mo-peds crashed into one another. No helmets. Nita jumped into work mode and started prioritising who needed help until the local ambulance arrived. I watched, held her hand bag and frantically googled Thai emergency services (it's 112 btw)
