What a great festival. Thanks again for inviting Folk The System we had a blast the crowd was the best to date including a crazy mosh pit. As for me, thanks to all who invited me on stage with them, thanks to Farmer Phil and LJ for the best FP's to date, Tony and his sound team on the second stage and the girls in the Merchandise stand. Most of all thanks to the best festival family❤️

User

Well this was our 1st time at farmer Phils fest and surely won't be our last!!! Amazing bands, food and beer cheap as chips....

Took the kids and they loved every minute!!! Great to b back in an old school fest! Everyone was so lovely no bad atmosphere wot so ever! Well done farmer Phil and everyone who made it happen

Ps my grandson is only 2 and he danced his wellies off!!! He loved it!!!!!

User

We love Farmer Phil's.Easy, relaxed, great family atmosphere.Great choice of bands, awesome food and the best camping mates you could wish for.

It's only our 2nd year but we are hooked. The fields were spotless when we left and the efficient, professional response to our lovely mate's emergency trip to hospital was nothing short of epic.Thank you!

One day we will even listen to your advice and get there without visiting every dingly dell in Shropshire.

You are so worth the journey...cannot wait until next year! X x x

User

This is the perfect music festival. Loved the community / family feel and it felt secure enough to give my kids some freedom, which meant I could relax and enjoy it all the more. Everyone I met was friendly and helpful and the site and stages were managed effectively. Superb acts and a stunning venue. Thank you to everyone for making this a fantastic first time festival experience for my kids. We look forward to next year!

User

This festival shows what is possible when organisers do this for the love of music as opposed to financial gain. The volunteers, stewards, safety crews, front of house and back stage crew, all were fantastic.

I wish this festival could be a secret little gem, but that would be unfair

I cannot recommend this festival enough

User

The breathtaking scenery makes this like no other festival. The atmosphere was friendly and it was a delight to see so many four legged friends joining in the revelries. The band booker should be singled out for praise as every act was worth watching. The sound on the main stage was top notch - i've been to all sizes of festivals over the years and never has there been one where you can actually hear every word and every note. This is my first experience of Farmer Phil's and could only make it for two days - next year is already booked in the diary for the three days and I CAN'T WAIT!!! Thank you to all the staff :)

User

Our first time at this festival & we really enjoyed it. The value for money was outstanding, I can't believe we got to camp for a whole week in such beautiful surroundings as well as enjoying the festival itself. We've been to quite a few festivals, but I think this would be a great one for first timers too or those who might find a large festival overwhelming - you get to enjoy 4 days of normal, chilled camping at the start & then over the course of the week the festival slowly starts to take shape around you so you get eased in nicely by the time it kicks off for real on the Friday. There's a really nice pub about a 20 minute stroll through farm fields away, plenty of streams & fields to play in. It's also a great festival for families & dog lovers (not so great if you're not a fan of dogs as there are many around, but most were pretty well behaved & All were kept on leads).

Family friendliness

Aside from the joys of general camping, in the run up to the festival there's something going on most days that kids would enjoy including a talent contest & a visit from the exotic zoo. Once the festival starts there's a whole kids area with circus activities & crafts. It all felt really safe & we felt comfortable enough to give our daughter her first taste of freedom; she's not really that into music yet but as the main stage is on one side of a small hill & the kids area the other we could keep a reasonable eye on her whilst watching the bands.

Music line up

Speaking of bands, we hadn't really heard of any of the line up beforehand but did some research before going & found that with 3 stages there was something for most tastes (though quite a few bluesy style & also a few covers bands). The sound quality & volume was really good as was the view of the main stage being accessible from different vantage points. The whole vibe & atmosphere was super chilled & friendly (probably helped by the fact that the man himself; 'farmer phil' was a very visible presence & is clearly very involved in every aspect of the event as were the team working with him, it's clearly an event not just for punters but something they enjoy very much themselves).

Going with the flow

Apart from the band timings which were all kept strictly to schedule, it's a go with the flow kind of festival; don't expect structure & order on arrival, you can park up & camp where you like (we chose a spot in the middle of the 'noisy' field rather than family camping but weren't disturbed at all by any noise or bad behaviour & found plenty of other families camped there too), there's no rush to exchange tickets for wristbands, things open when they open etc....

Small niggles...

The only points for improvement I can mention were around toilets, bins & food.

Toilets

The toilets were the compost kind & pretty clean all festival, however sawdust wasn't provided until quite late on in the week which meant they were smellier than necessary. There were generally plenty except it would have been useful to have a couple by the tea tent as it was a bit of a trek a few times with a suddenly desperate to go child!

Bins

There really weren't enough bins around either - I had trouble spotting any at first until someone pointed out that the crates next to the bar were for rubbish which really wasn't clear. It was also hard to distinguish these from the sawdust crates so that the ones next to the toilets once these appeared tended to get filled with rubbish so it was hard & unpleasant trying to get to the sawdust. There could have done with being somewhere for rubbish to the side of each stage & at each bar.

Food

Lastly food - there was a good amount of food vendors for a small festival and the quality was mostly decent. However, of the 8 or so vendors, 3 did sandwiches/baguettes/ toasties, 2 did burgers/hot dogs & chips & only 3 did proper 'meals'. Unfortunately, those doing hot plated meals had fairly similar menus - basically different versions of curry or chilli! The campsite is so close that those inclined to cook could just go back to camp & save a few quid (the campsite shop was very well stocked though it was missing somewhere that sells camping items like chairs etc). However, I like to treat myself at a festival (& would rather spend my time enjoying bands etc than cooking). I was a bit bored of the same kinds of food on offer by the second day & was craving something healthier that wasn't a curry! However, it was good that the food (& drinks) were a little cheaper than a lot of other festivals & there were several options for food under a fiver. Most places were also happy to do child sized portions.

All in all, this was a great little festival & we will definitely be back, hopefully convincing friends to come with us next time!

User

Only ever been with the touring party of one of the bands on the line up.

Each year the team go out there way to make sure everything runs as smooth as possible for everyone and it is hugely noticed!

Every festival, gig, any line of work faces unforceable issues everyonce in a while (that nobody can deny) but when ever I have seen anything however small or big occur at Phil's the team have always been on the ball working to their maximum to resolve so that everyone has the best experience wether a customer, crew or an artist everyone is treated the same.

We can't take our little girl to many gigs we play as they just wouldn't be suitable but FPs is far from this.

Would recommend this festival for families 100% a lovely close secure vibe, loads to do and not forgetting a beautiful setting to just add another plus!

Keep doing what you are doing we can't wait to be there again and be part of a line up that caters for so many different tastes as nobody likes the same things!

Just brilliant xx

It's the best week of the year seeing all the Farmer Phils festival family. Every year gets better and better and from someone who was brought up in Pulverbatch it's like coming home.

User

Had an amazing time...saw some amazing acts.will certainly be back next year

User

First timer at Farmer Phil's and my daughter's first festival! And what a way for her to start... great festival, fab mix of band's and the friendliest Festi People ever. I was worried about taking her so young there was nothing to worry about, everyone in our group had a blast especially the children.

Thank you Farmer Phil and all the staff and stewards and campers alike did a great job moving anyone stuck in the mud... seemless.

See you all next year! Cannot wait xx

User

Excellent again the staff worked tirelessly under difficult circumstances just a shame that some of the campers were either too pig headed or just plain stupid to follow the advice given to them by the staff

User

Cant fault this festival. So family friendly. We will never miss one! Thanks guys for all your hard work to organise it

User

Can't wait for this year's festival. The last few years have been awesome!

User

Awesome went last year great bands and ambiance in a great setting. Don't expect wifi and phone reception just relax and have a good time .... you can have a fire and bring your dog. Lots of people in fancy dress........or were they???? Lol

User

An outstanding festival. We turned up on Monday as buying weekend tickets allowed an entire weeks camping. This was our first visit & from the moment we arrived we were hit by the professionalism & friendless of the staff and the friendliness of just about everyone we met. We've already made arrangements with new friends made this year to meet up next year,

We camped in a tent; myself, my wife & two boys (4 & 8). It was great parking next to the tent so no wasted time transporting between car and camping site. We went off site on the Tuesday and on returning late in the evening after heavy rain got stuck in the mud but no problem as the extremely helpful staff got us towed to our tent with the minimum of fuss.

The showers which were great. Only had to queue once when the electricity went off but only for about 10 minutes. Usually they were hot and always clean and well maintained. The toilets were excellent. Because most were drop toilets with no flush there was no overflowing and much less smell than I was expecting

The outlets on site were excellent and very reasonably priced with a great variety of food including vegan. The on site shop was exceptional with everything from toilet roll to black pudding!

Our two boys were kept entertained with the Panic circus, Exotic Zoo & Junkfish Craft tents. There were also plenty of other kids and they all looked out for one another. On the Wednesday evening there was a Farmer Phil's got talent. No judging, just a chance for the kids to get up on stage and show their stuff.

As a real ale drinker I was well catered for with the main bar selling 2-3 cask ales at the start of the week & the real ale bar providing more than I could count towards the end of the week. All at reasonable prices.

There were three music venues. All provided excellent sound. There was more than enough variety for me and I ended up missing some bands due to clashes, due to the quality of the music available.

I can't really recommend this festival enough and suffice to say I'll be buying tickets for next year as soon as they go on sale just on the basis that I loved the vibe and have every faith that the organising team will deliver excellent bands

User

All of it is brillos. Helluva nice, great music, great people, great scenery. Great everything. Great.

Absolutely loved the line up this year. The line up was our reason for going, as previously, the acts were getting samey and repetitive. A few grumbling about covers bands, from those trying to lure the punters away from the main stage. There were one or two that covers as part of their set, but also did original material as well, so the grumbling was just pure spite. It was lovely seeing families and their 4-legged friends enjoying the week. Very family and dog friendly. No issue with toilets, have seen much worse! Plenty of people and stewards on hand for those struggling with the terrain, as it is on a working farm. We will definitely be back next year, with friends this time. So pleased that it's coming back next year. Thank you to Farmer Phil and his team for a great week

User

2nd year @ Farmer Phil's and what another fantastic year.

1st time it was lots of sun, dust great atmosphere with really friendly people and staff, this year was exactly the same but rain and mud instead of sun and dust.

Not that it stopped the fun, still ha a fantastic time and can't wait for next year, which is gonna be even better.

All people involved from the organisers to the stewards and security did a fantastic job and deserve a medal.
