Went to Pear Tree Farm instead of the usual Toby as it was shut, was very impressed with the excellent choice of vegetables and nice meat. Will be returning no doubt.

We often come here for a meal or like on Sunday for a carvery with our grandsons 1of 11yrs age the other 4 yrs old our eldest grandson had a carvery the lad filled his plate bless him and cleaned his plate the youngest had his sausage chips and beans his pear tree favourite. My wife and myself had the carvery also the chef's behind the counter we polite and very chatty and very very helpful when asked have you anymore cauliflower he went straight into the kitchen and brought some more out then went to check what was running out and refilled them. The food was outstanding as ever the kids got deserts then got a cake away for there mum bless them the girl on the counter couldn't of been more helpful and friendly asking the kids what would mummy like to have well you could say she got spoiled lol. We went into the pub at 5pm and it was still very busy so that has something to say how popular Pear Tree Farm is and deserves 5 big gold stars and all the staff a big pat on there backs Friendly and helpful

User

Superb service and food was lovely

First of many visits whenever we visit York in future.

User

Me and my partner come here often and have never had any issues. The food has always been great and had no complaints. I don't often write a review but the last who served us (Fiona) was very welcoming and helpful at the till when putting our order through. She was always smiling and while doing our drinks, asking other customers of they were being served. Grest place food and start

User

Lovely people who work there. Great food and great drink food really nice and they let you have what you what if you did not like suff with you I would go there all the time good job

User

Have been a few times for a carvery. Very nice meats, Yorkshire puddings and good selection of vegetables. Have never had one of their beautiful looking desserts as I have been too full. Will pop in one day for a dessert and a coffee. All the staff are cheerful and very helpful. Will be back again that's for sure

User

Great service and friendly staff would highly recommend Rachael the lady that served us at the till was great my daughter loved her will definitely come back

User

Called into the Pear Tree Farm for lunch after my daughter had had her interview for a place in York Uni.

We found our experience there very positive, staff were very friendly and efficient, food was good and atmosphere great. We were made very welcome. One particular young gentleman named Ryan who was serving from the bar and taking orders was particularly busy, he never stopped the entire time we were there, nothing was too much trouble for him and remained cheerful throughout. Well definitely be back.

User

A bit worrying on arrival when it seemed like there was a problem with my booking, however it was quickly sorted. The food was quickly served and everyone agreed it was very tasty. Empty plates were promptly cleared away and the staff were attentive without being intrusive. We’d already decide to do cakeaway but it was a struggle to decide which to choose, they all looked so tasty!! My 6 year old has already decided he wants to come for his birthday!!

User

Ultimate carvery was awesome - too much for me which doesn’t happen often! Rest of the family had off the main menu and all was good.

User

We normally visit the one in hull wingfield farm given theat there supposed to be identical I have to say I was slightly disappointed the quality of the food was ok the service was ok both what I'm used to but my gripe was the choice of veg no cauliflower only mushy peas I'm used to a better selection at wingfield farm saying that it is still miles ahead of its competitors in the carvry market

User

Went there as was recommended for there breakfasts ! We normally go else were religiously always stuck with one place. But thought I’d give it a go. All the food was cold ! The toast was ice cold and there butter wouldn’t melt it just sat on the toast the only thing that kept warm was the scrambled eggs, I know this place doesn’t cost much so can’t expect to much in return, but this day in age it wasn’t even a standard ! Never going again ! Oh and as for the cups for tea and coffee they was all filthy ! Disgusting

User

Went out with my family. We asked what stouts they had and were told "there's this abbot one but that's it." So we said that one then, please. It was a pale ale! The exact opposite! So the person who ordered it couldn't drink it and felt like the server had no clue what she was doing anyway so we didn't mention it to her. Bit daft, could've just said there was Guinness or asked what we meant instead.

Then despite this, we tried to enjoy the night still but I found a horrible curly hair in my food and lost my appetite. I know sometimes people get their own hair or someone they're with's hair in their food but none of us had hair like that and it was completely disgusting and made the night worse considering how long it took us to be served in the first place because staff were too busy talking and flirting with eachother.

My first visit to pear tree and probably my last.

User

We have been many times for the carvery on Sundays and you really cannot beat it.

This was our 2nd year for christmas day dinner and the first time was brilliant.

This year our table was booked for the 2:30 for a party of 5 and had a bit of a wait to get seated. The guy that seated us said he would be back shortly to take our drink order but after 15 mins gave up and got our own.

After 45 mins still had not got our starters and had to chase them up. Got them after another 10 mins. Carvery was self serve so didn't have to wait for that.

Pudding order was handed in and 10 mins later someone else came to take order.

The whole experience was a mess and considering how much we had paid a waste of money.

Don't think we will be back next year.

My wife and i were very dissapointed.

User

Wanted to order two sirloin steaks and 1 carvery tonight about 7.30. Restaurant not busy. Was told that there were no sirloin available so went for the rump. Was told order would be 20 minutes so rather than getting cavery straight away I waited. Only to overhear man at carvery say that only meat available was turkey and Gammon. So I went back to changd my order. I got no apology . When I got back to my table the steaks had arrived but I then had to wait 15 minutes for my meal. When my meal arrived I asked for tartare sauce to be told they didn't have any!!! Very poor and I certainly won't be going back or recommending. Expensive for a very average meal

User

Not impressed with the food. Was very plain had a burger with bacon and mushrooms and chips. Chips were well done coleslaw was watery and the burger was tough. No side salad the presentation was terrible. Thought I would try a nickerbocker glory cos always wanted one. It came and it wasn't as described in the menu with strawberries and fresh cream. It was horrible. The cream certainly wasn't fresh it was the powered catering mix and no strawberries very disappointed.

User

Nice people good service. Tough steak raw turkey terrible yorkshires sloppy veg. Not a patch on Toby carvery.

User

Meat was nice but vegetables we over cooked and a lot of it was cold.

User

Food and staff were fine. Gets a poor rating from me because the main course arrived as I was still eating the starter.
