The Calvery was fantastic just a shame we had to que for so long, especially with mobility problems and just felt in the way of other customers walking back and forth to the bar.

Have visited this pub for quite a number of years, several times a year, sometimes are better than others. The last visit was yesterday, the service was very good, very attentive and quickly served although fairly busy. The portions of food ample for a reasonable price, and hot, which is important. We discovered that the Manager was someone known to us, having been in public houses that he has managed before. There was certainly some differences, for the good, this visit to the years before. Thank you Gary for making this a more exceptional place to visit.

Food was ok

With regards to bar staff I was served by a female with plenty of body art not that thatвҖҷs a problem but to hear her calling people darling and love every minute I thought was very unprofessional .

Once I had been served she the asked me what I was waiting for, well I was actually waiting for my wife who had made a trip to the ladies , bit rude I thought didnвҖҷt realise we had to leave the bar once served. Might visit again as a last resort.

Had a breakfast, not great at all. The tiniest Lincolnshire sausages you've ever seen that were somehow burnt on the outside and cold in the middle, even my 3 yr old son who eats nothing but sausage refused to eat them. Fried eggs or so they called these partially cooked things are a wander of the natural world. Beans were warmed with a tea light and what kind of sicko ruins bacon like that, it ain't right I tell you.

After eating here many times and it always being good we decided to book again...



Booked a table for 9 (only 8 seats on the table) we had to explain over five times it was seven adults and two children- the woman on the phone kept saying "how many in total" we repeated and finely established it was for 9 people. We said 100% not near the kids area - but dispite it being empty that's where we were sat.



After getting another chair and cutlery ourselfs we ordered food.



All the fish meals were soggy, one no curry sauce, two wrong peas, forgot the kids meals and had to ask for sauces three or four times. The pub was empty!



Desserts. Some where good but wasn't the good looking ones on display. The eclair was like a very heavy Yorkshire pudding with curdeled custard and over whipped cream. Plus they forgot one again!



Must of been 15 staff and 30 customers. Shame they couldn't make more effort to get it right.

had carvery.2 slices of tough chewy beef with cold vegetables.gravy still had unmixed granules in it.will not be returning.oh,and the stupid woman in charge of seating never called my name,just stood there gormlessly calling out" table for two"every couple of minutes ,seating people who arrived after me and my daughter.defo ruined our trip out.

Where is the zero rating? Unfortunately there isnвҖҷt one so I had to give a score of 1, which is being generous. Visited with my family today. A few of us ordered burgers. One was cremated. None of the waitresses came to ask how the food was while we were eating nor did they come to clear the table. My son started feeling unwell while we were at the table. Eventually we saw the manager so called him over to complain. He said there was no way we could prove that the meal caused my son to feel unwell. He looked at the burger and admitted that he thought it was a вҖҳbitвҖҷ burnt. It was actually black! He sort of apologised but couldnвҖҷt explain why none of the waitresses had come to check whether our food was ok. They were too busy moving tables around. He eventually agreed to refund the cost of one meal. Customer service was atrocious. We wonвҖҷt be back....ever.

We popped into the pub on the off chance we could grab something to eat? With it being Easter Monday we weren't sure. Upon arriving the woman who greeted us didn't really greet us, she didn't seem too happy we hadn't booked but still seated us anyway. We ordered our food and when I went to get the carvery the only decent member of staff was the lady who was cutting the meat on there. A breath of fresh air. My daughter asked for A spoon so my partner went to the bar to ask for one, upon getting to the bar the member of bar staff, a male, said to my partner "queues over there mate" without even allowing my partner to ask for a spoon.

Shoddy service, unfriendly staff, we definitely won't be visiting again.

We on occasion make a visit here and is normally pretty good. Today was the opposite! With a 6 & 1yr old we thought the best place for a family meal as it was my husbands birthday, as service is normally pretty good as is the food.

Seemed pretty empty on arrival around 5pm, headed over to the family area, let the kids go off and play whilst we decided on food. Then realised how filthy the area was! Food all over the floors some tables had not been cleaned, not a great start! Headed over to the bar to order to be greeted with a queue of 5 in front of me and 4/5 people soon joined behind me waiting to order.

There was only 1 poor woman serving on the bar! run ragged, trying to take orders, make drinks and payments not only from the food order queue. Do management need their heads reading?! ItвҖҷs the summer holidays!! Put more staff on!

Must have queued for what seemed like 20mins (likely less, but seems more when ur waiting).

Finally ordered, 2 adult carverys and 2 kids meals. The till didnвҖҷt print the carvery slips was told to use receipt, tried to time going up to collect carvery as to when kids food would come out. Saw table near us who had kids food arrive (their parent was infront of me in the queue), so we take turns getting ours.

By which point our youngest is kicking off and hungry (as they do).

On collecting carvery the meat looked ok, but the veg this time was diabolical with what was actually there this time! No sign of a top up in sight, didnвҖҷt help with the Glutenous man infront May aswell have brought his chair to the hot plate with a knife and fork - he took so much it was disgusting!

Leaving mushy ends of broccoli, dried out stuffing, carrots etc.. you name it - ItвҖҷs was either dead or none there. Though there was cauliflower whoopy пҝҪ.



Returned to table and basically ended up giving our kids some of ours, as it took another 10/15mins for their food to arrive but in the mean time people who had ordered after me got theirs first, the same kids meals!

Server finally comes a long with the meals holding them with an oven cloth...for the kids - ON RED HOT PLATES! ARE YOU STUPID!!? If you advertise вҖңlittle onesвҖқ food and вҖңnot so little foodвҖқ it may also help if you had suitable cutlery пҝҪ they are kids! Though it was obvious no mention by the server they were hot or whether we needed anything nor any check backs made at all whilst we were there (which did normally happen).

So again to wait and to let plates and food cool.

But at last we can all start eating (well pretty cold cavery by that point) and the first thing I bite into was fantastic rock hard raw cauliflower пҝҪ!



Bottom line, wonвҖҷt be hurrying back - sort the staffing out, youвҖҷre a large venue and itвҖҷs the summer holidays! And have a word with your chefs (sorry microwave and fryer technicians), if you canвҖҷt cook cauliflower.. well do I need to say?

We booked a week in advance as we had 6 adults and 3 children for a evening meal on Good Friday. We had to do this over the phone as they needed a deposit. This was fine and a ВЈ30 payment was taken. Upon arriving we said the reservation name and they knew nothing of us.... no table reserved!! A great start. It was only for the fact that we had a banking app on our phone that they believed we had paid! So if booking i would never ever pay a deposit to these people!! They shunted a couple of sticky dirty tables together down near the play area. We had to wipe our own chairs down as half of them were dirty! The floor could only be described as vile! Soo much food and rubbish on the floor its is cleaner at the the tip!!

As for the food mostly it was up to previous standard (excpt bringing all the adult meals before the kids, simple things all parents appreciate) with the exception of the double burger. I have had my fair share of burgers and this was the worst ever, bordering on cremated!! As another reviews say, not once did anyone check our meals were alright or did anyone offer us any sauces! I went walking around trying to find some but couldn't find any staff or sauce anywhere!... i would have to give serious consideration before going here again! It seems to have gone down hill from previous standards of quality and service!

This place needs a deep clean and the male carver reminded he is serving food, we are not visiting to watch him flirt or moan about the heat..

I made it clear I just wanted service but he has some mission to engage in (unwelcome) conversations...

The meat was too dry, roast potatoes revolting, the veg was too thick and either boiled within an inch of death or cold..

Cauliflower cheese was stringy and mushy...

The carver asked me what I wanted...I told him twice and made him get me a bigger plate....And he haggledabout it until he read the reciept..

We live around the corner from this place and done Christmas here .

This place is a complete shambles. Always had really nice food but once again waiting to order is a joke. The que is all over the place and after being stood in it for 30mins decided to leave. They need more staff this has been a problem for years. Was gutted as the food from previous visits is amazing. Be prepared to wait a very long time or better still go somewhere else пҝҪпҝҪ

Ordered one Carvery, 2 large mixed grills and mix and match chicken and steak plus drinks cost ВЈ70. Table wasn't laid, had to ask for knives and forks. Carvery was shutting at half 8 so had to get it straight away but we we're told there would be a 45 minute wait for rest of order.. An hour 10 minutes later, after I complained, the food arrived....barley warm. Medium rare steak was almost well done. Sausages were burnt. Fried egg was hard and overcooked. Chicken was dry and overcooked. No apology for late food. Nobody asked if we were happy. We were so hungry we still ate it then left. Ruined my sons birthday. No reason for food taking so long, place was empty. Wonder if I'll get an apology now?? Doubt it. Waste of money. Go to the Air Balloon in Filton or a Weatherspoons.

On Monday 21st of May we paid ВЈ15 in an uber to go for a meal here. However when we turned up. They informed us they had shut down as the food heaters were not working. So we had to pay another uber to visit somewhere else. Today I decided we would go for a Sunday dinner here. I booked it in advance to make sure no hiccups. Had an email comformation. However yet again when we got there. They had shut everything down. This time they had no water.

No email was sent to advise us not to turn up. Very disappointing! Yet again more money in uber fares for nothing. Will not be making this journey again. Twice in one week ridiculous!

Not a happy customer.

I have been coming here since it opened and recently it has gone down hill fast.

My partner and I decided after a stressful day at work to come and have a lovely carvery rather and cook and to be honest I wish I would have just stayed at home and cooked.

We both had the carvery, the chef was grumpy and flirting with all the women rather than doing his job. The little veg that there was looked like it had been there since last Sunday, dry and shrivvled, we had to ask for the carrot to be refilled, when they were they were dry shrivvled and tasteless, not even freshly cooked. Then we had to asked for the green beans to be refilled, which took ages, then there was no gravy so he had to go and get more, when he did he brought it out in a big pot and almost made the women stood infront of it, wear it! Then there was no mint, Apple or cranberry sauce, we asked for it to be refilled twice, then had to wait ages for it to be refilled. It took us 25 minutes to get from the front of the cue of the carvery to sitting down by which point the food was cold!

All in all I was really disappointed and I don't think we will be coming back until we hear of a big improvement!

IвҖҷve been here several times over the years and always found it to be ok but this evening was a different story ! There was 12 of us dining out for a family birthday, the staff seemed like we were too much trouble because tables had to be pushed together to accommodate us. We ordered our food at the bar, the person serving us said the wait on food was 20-30 minutes at the most, some of us had ordered carvery so we wanted to know roughly when to go and get ours so we could all eat together. After waiting 45 minutes, we asked if our order was almost ready. The manager we spoke to was rude and argumentative saying the wait was 45-1hour and that no bar staff would have told us the waiting time was any less. So after 1hour 10 minutes our food arrived, there were parts of peopleвҖҷs meals missing which we pointed out to the waiter but the missing parts took a further 10 minutes to arrive ! Some of us wanted sauces for our food, again these took a while to arrive. No one bothered to come back and check if everything was ok. The table wasnвҖҷt cleared for 30 minutes after we had all finished eating so I cleared it myself because we had a birthday cake that we wanted to bring out. I asked for a knife to cut the cake and some napkins, you would think I had asked for a steaming turd judging by the reaction I got !

This place has really gone downhill, the fact that our party had spent a significant amount of money in their establishment this evening meant nothing to them.

Had food today and really quite poor! Lasagna had no taste at all and childs burger still pink!! Carvery was ok thatвҖҷs about it! It a nice pub just food not that great!!

Been many times but last night was not very good they forgot my meal we wanted Diane sauce but we got a very creamy onion sauce we then asked for birthday cake to be brought out we had to ask 3times before it came out
