We only picked Birmingham as a half way point stop over on our journey from Holyhead to the Cornwall area and found this gem right next to our hotel.

I got the sausage and mash that came in a yorkie so big that I had left overs for Mum and I the next night.

It was delicious (both nights!) And our victoria sponge cakeaway is also lasting another night.

The servings are huge, delicious and cheap. Great staff too. All very happy and greet you witj a smile and all willing to help.

Very much enjoyed the night there that when we finally reached Cornwall I said I was ready to head back to Birmingham!

We ad family down from Buxton, we took them to halfpenny farm,for a meal they really enjoyed it 4 ad chicken medley, an the other ad car very they al enjoyed there meals an could not believe in the size of dessert one ad the choc eclair,an eat it there an then the others took them home . Myself an hubby went again on Sunday for a car very an it was delicious.just love there meals.

Had a lovely visit on Sunday, my mom and dads 45th wedding anniversary and we were a large group but Sharon looked after us and seated us very quickly and without any trouble, intact nothing was too much trouble for her or our waiting staff, food was wonderful, both from the carvery and main menu, all in all a very lovely visit made very special by Sharon! Thank you all.

Came on Friday for work celebrations (Jacksons Catering. Over 22 of us. As we arrived everything was set up. We had an amazing night great drinks yummy food and deserts. No-one could do enough for us. Special mention to Anthony who really went the extra mile and put up with our huge orders and demands all night lol so thankyou. Highly recommended and will will 100% be returning.

A few days ago we had a really bad experience at the halfpenny farm I left a bad review and went elsewhere for food. Less than 24 hours later Sharon from the halfpenny farm messaged me for more details about the evening, I messaged Sharon right away and to be honest she was brilliant she offered myself and my party a free carvery and a promise that we would be looked after if we returned. Well tonight we returned for that free carvery and the service we got was brilliant, we were looked after from start to finish and even had waiter service from Matt who was amazing! My faith in Halfpenny Farm as been restored Thank you Sharon ’┐Į

We've had mixed experiences here before, but tonight the lady who seated us and took our food order at the bar (same woman, Lindsey according to the receipt) was brilliant. Attentive, wiped down the table before we sat down without use asking, just because she thought it looked sticky, and went and found a straw for my wife's drink (she couldn't drink it without one) when there weren't any behind the bar and brought it over to us. Thanks!

I visited on monday tea time. The food was great but yet again the whole experience was ruined by the lack of staff. Spent most of my time queing for drinks. It took 15 minutes for someone to serve me on the dessert counter in the end i had to ask someone to serve me otherwise i would have been still waiting. Its a shame as the pub is only a walk away for us i would visit more often if the service was quicker it seems to be an ongoing problem since half penny farm opened

Disappointed. Carvery was ok, beef was tough, turkey was nice.

Kids meals were good, however rainbow sundae was all cream and no ice cream, not good!!!!

Quiche was awful, over cooked and jacket potato was hard.

Overall, really disappointed in food off the menu. Probably wonŌĆÖt come again.

Went for breakfast, wouldn't return unfortunately.

No member of staff behind counter and they only had the small plates when we'd paid for large breakfast. Eventually a front of house member passed and she grabbed me one.

We'd been advised no mushroom or black pudding as delivery broken down.

What was on offer looked really sad and not very appetizing, the cooks need to maybe have a bit more pride in the food they put out and tidy up the station.

I've scalded my fingers on the tongs, surely there are heat proof handle tongs that you can get? Didn't see any sign warning how bloody hot they actually get!!

Not really a great experience. Front of house fine, back of house need to up their game.

We visited here on the 10th June 2018 and were so disappointed, a table was booked for 25 people well in advance for 8pm, we arrived early and were seated at 7.45 but had to wait ages for the drinks to be served ( 1 person serving) when we had decided what we were eating and ordered our food we were told there were only 2 meats on carvery left and those further back in the queue were told they couldnŌĆÖt order carvery as they were closing it (bear in mind itŌĆÖs only 8.10pm and they knew 25 people were arriving)I decided to just have a desert instead, so opted for apple pie and custard but when it arrived the custard was cold so I asked for it to be heated, it was then returned lukewarm with it dripping all down the sides of the jug, not very appealing visually or to taste, someone else had a sundae and the cream on the top was hard like it had been sat there all day. The toilets were disgusting too no toilet roll in any toilets and wet used serviettes were scattered all round the sinks and on the floor. Will not be revisiting as this is the 3rd time IŌĆÖve tried to give them the benefit of doubt after past bad experiences here, not impressed at all !!!!!

We visited Halfpenny Farm yesterday. Before we ordered our meal we went to the bar to order some drinks first to be told that we had to wait in the food order que which was nearly out the door. There was two members of staff that where behind the bar. If we are ordering drinks we shudnt have to wait in the food order que. Time was six and was half term week. Should have more staff. Could the manager not have helped out behind the bar.. Will not be returning. Manager was rude aswell.

We visit Halfpenny Farm Oldbury regularly but on 20th April 2018 the female members of my family decided to have a get together - there were 15 of us. We ordered at 7.30 and our starters came out after around 20 mins. One starter was completely forgotten . Some of our party had carveries and others ordered from the menu. It was after 9pm before main meals came out by which time the people eating carveries had finished! The forgotten starter was chased and came out with the main meal. One lady was served what looked like a piece of frying steak instead of sirloin steak, and not cooked to how she had requested it. This lady complained, she was told a new steak would be cooked for her and would be 5-10 minutes and it actually took over 35 minutes which meant she was eating on her own.Sauces were forgotten to accompany the steaks. One lady ordered from the menus only to be told after visiting the kitchen that it wasnŌĆÖt available ladyŌĆÖs Carvery ŌĆśBapŌĆÖ was absolutely smothered thick with butter and she couldnŌĆÖt eat it (no choice was given in whether she wanted butter or not). There was no ice at the bar, and out of the three ladies toilets there was one working ! One of the waitresses had an attitude problem pulling faces as theyŌĆÖd got one of the orders wrong! The situation was explained to the manager who compensated the few people in our party who complained with a free desert. We were very disappointed as we have never experienced this before at Halfpenny Farm. We have always had lovely meals.

I come to half penny every 2 weeks and iv loved it up until now. I came in today (4/6/18) and ordered the chip shop supper.



I found the fish dry and rubbery and tasted burned as did the battered sausage. I had a lump of butter placed onto 1 piece of bread and the scampi was dry and chewy also.



I'm really disappointed as I usually love the food here and have recommended the half penny farm to friends and family.

I don't know where to begin ...

Booked a table which was a waste of time one waitress clearing tables for the whole place.

No one taking tickets in exchange for a plate so could have not paid in the first place but that meant having to slide your arm round a red hot piece of glass to get a plate

Queued an hour in total for breakfast with children only for them to run out of food- not only on the buffet but also no eggs benedict no muffins no pancakes, ran out of bread for toast, turned the coffee machines off before we'd even managed to get any food

All the staff had bad attitudes I understand they were under pressure but to take it out on customers is disgusting

Not enough staff not enough food made worse by bad customer service

We walked out in the end with 3 hungry children NEVER will I go there again

Don't take people's money if you can't deliver the service or food

Lost count of the amount of people getting refunds

This is the lowest mark I can give it if I could give it lower I would . My son booked a table a week ago then when called the day before the date they had no booking . Told us to come down an hour after the said time . And after an 2hr wait we was seated . Then the cutlery was dirty . And the bar staff didn't know there job it was my first visit and my last

Came here today. Such poor service. The food was over cooked and cold. Ordered a side dish of onion rings and they were so cold and hard I'm sure I've broken my tooth on 1. Not 1 staff member came 2 ask how our meal was like u get in other pubs otherwise I would of said something! While waiting for the kids desserts there was a staff member taking 2 a customer that was obviously a friend she was talking about the manager and not in a good way. The staff member serving the ice cream had no customer service skills what so ever. She left the counter and didn't say where she was going came back about 5 minutes later and pretty much threw the ice creams on the counter and not said a single word. While waiting I looked around and there was a queue at the carvery with no 1 serving and all staff had miserable faces on them. Maybe they were having a bad day but I won't be returning 2 find out.

Came here today for a meal was told had to wait so they could clear a table which we did but then the staff failed to tell us it was ready so was waiting for no reason, so we tried to order I wanted hunters chicken which they never had so asked for something else which they never had so went for the chicken medley the chips were well over cooked, they forgot my mushrooms and the chicken was over cooked and vile, first time iv ever left food on my plate when iv been.out for food, then the staff on the deserts well.she had no customer service skills at all she just dumped the kids ice creams on the table and walked off, we heard staff bitchin about the manager very professional, overall bad experience and will.not be returning worst ┬Ż30 iv spent the best part was the macmillan cake sale. Avoid this place

Booked a table for 6:30 to then be told when we arrived they had booked us in for 7:30 instead after having to remind a waiter that we were still waiting for the table we booked the manager then arrived at 8:30 telling us they still didn't have a table for us and that it was our fault for not stating we had a child with us (they were told on the phone their were 10 people and one of those was a toddler)not once did the manage acknowledge that they were in the wrong disgusting service from the manager rude and arragont. Shall not be returning

Been coming here once a week for a family get together on a Tuesday lunch for about 3 months now. Problem after problem eventually last week was the final straw when I was told I couldnŌĆÖt have a little plate to put my very young son a few veggies and potatoes to try. Very understaffed and poorly managed! No respect for regular customers and disadvantaging them for the odd ŌĆśgypsyŌĆÖ customer who takes the mick!

Looking forward to trying a new location for our weekly family carvery from now on.
