Please be aware that there is algae on Tarn Pond which is unusual, not sure whether it is blue-green algae, but both anglers and dog owners should be aware.

Tench Teach-In at Summer Pit with the Tenchfishers
Ian Gray Massive thanks to Kenny Parsons, Tony King, Steve Frapwell, Barry Cushing, Chris Netto and Stuart Stephens for all helping out at this wonderful event, I know it was a struggle in the heat (helped a little by England beating the Swedes 2-0 !), and you all did an amazing job once again that resulted in a couple of PBs for those attending, but clearly it is the lessons learned and guidance provided that will benefit th...ose that attended so much more in the future and help them on larger and trickier venues.
Thanks as well to The Tenchfishers as an organisation who donated one of their superb bulletins to each member (which happened to have a superb article by Steve Innes on Mill Lane in it), and to all the tutors who each provided a specialist hook rig, plus a float rig, plus a heli-rig for each member donated FOC by Korum, which was greatly appreciated. Thank you all so much for your time, generosity and dedication to the pursuit of Tincas.
Thanks as well to bailiffs, Paul, Gary & Ian plus Trevor Hopkins from the Ex Com for helping prepare the venue the day before, Simon King for running over trestle tables and FAS cover and lastly to the Executive Committee for agreeing to this annual teach in as well as providing the venue and the bait for all.
Well done and thanks to all from myself and everyone that took part.

Basingstoke Canal: partial closure - Farnborough Airshow
Farnborough International have again asked that a small portion of the Canal between Eelmoor and Norris Bridges be closed during flying hours at this year’s Farnborough Airshow. You will remember that this is as a result of safety regulations introduced following the Shoreham Airshow crash a few years ago, restricting low level flying. As a major event supporting the national economy, Hampshire County Council and Basing...stoke Canal Authority are happy to support Farnborough International so that they can comply with these regulations brought into place following the CAA final report from their Civil Air Display Review.
The Canal and towpath will be closed from a point just east of Eelmoor Bridge to a point just west of Norris Bridge as part of the Airshow perimeter during the hours of flying on 9th – 22nd July (12.30pm to approx. 5.30pm daily) See attached map.

Blue green algae is present at both Frensham Little Pond & Frensham Great Pond, and as a result is closed to the public, but fishing is allowed.
See the link to Waverley Borough Council website for more details:
http://www.waverley.gov.uk/…/693/frensh am_great_pond_and_co…
... Members should therefore be mindful of the presence of the algae and take appropriate measures to avoid any health problems arising.

Due to further problems beyond our control with the telephone lines that service the credit card machine, only cash or cheques may be used at Gold Valley Membership Centre until Friday 6th July at the earliest.
The same applies to Gold Valley tackle shop as well.
Please note:... This has apparently arisen as a result of works in association with a new housing development that has resulted in the phone connections being broken 4 times to date.

The Tenchfishers Fish In at Mill Lane from 18th - 20th May 2018 bought about a few surprises on this tough water which holds specimen Tench, as well as the Carp for which it may be better known.
This quick video clip sets the scene for the write up of the event, now on the Articles page on the Farnham AS website.
Posted now so that aspirining Tench anglers can give it a go this season whilst the weed levels are uncharacteristically low, so take your opportunity whilst conditi...ons are easier, but allowing for the fact that the fishing can be anything but !

Yateley South Complex - Access
Following our enquiry about the proposed 'road closure' last week, weI have just been advised by 'Operation Resiliance' (Hampshire County Council), that the roadworks are now due to start tomorrow (18th April 2018) morning.
Whilst the road gang undertaking the works will do their best to maintain access for our Members to get in and out of the Yateley South Complex, it cannot be guaranteed as they have to prioritise safe working at all times.
... If you are delayed for any reason, please be patient wth them as they have to prioritise the job in hand and HSE requirements, not our access.
The gang will try and maintain our access once works finish for the day, but this may not be possible, so if you are fishing their you may wish to check with them whether access will be possible and leave whilst you can rather than being locked in until vehicular access in resumed.
During these works: a) Access to the Yateley South Complex will only be possible from the south - Yateley side.
b) Access to the Yateley East Complex will only be possible from the north - Sandhurst side.
Members may call a Helpline between 9am - 5pm on 0300-555-1388: out of hours this will be put through via the Police to an out of hours Officer.
We apologise for the lateness of this news, but have no control over these works, which are apparently linked to drainage improvements in teh area.
Our thanks to Chris Gadsden, Nathan Fleming and John Dicks for bring these matters to the Society's attention.
Details of the proposed works can be found using the following link:
