Feline Care Cat Rescue Description

Feline Care is home to over 150 at any time, many of which are looking for new homes, some of which will spend the rest of their days living in peaceful sanctuary.

When we set up our Facebook page in 2011 our parent charity was closing us down unless we could raise the £70, 000 needed to buy our premises, in Norfolk, UK.

For a small rescue it seemed an impossible task but after 14 hard weeks we made it, thanks to the dedication of our volunteers and the generosity of the general public.

Since then we have gone on to help many hundreds of cats find better and safer lives and we look forward to doing so until our feline friends no longer need us. Sadly we know that day will not be in any of our lifetimes, but we can hope!

Feline Care was originally founded in 1997 by The Cat and Rabbit Rescue Centre charity, based in West Sussex. The CRRC operate a strict policy never to put a healthy animal to sleep which leads to a number of cats who take longer to re-home. Feline Care was founded to take on these 'unwanted' moggies and offer a forever-home to those with nowhere else to go.

Over the years Feline Care has evolved as many of the nervous cats we take in have slowly learnt to love humans and have since found their own homes. Now we operate a regular rescue and rehoming sanctuary but with a difference because we will always aim to be here for those who need us most.

Our attitude to euthanasia: we will only help our friends go for their final sleep when it is absolutely justified for their individual journey. We do not practice 'contextually justified' euthanasia as we believe we owe more than that to the cats in our care, euthanasia should never be for human convenience.

Thank you for your support.

Our very very very belated news update should be winging it's way through the satellites (or however the internet works!) and into your email accounts within the hour! There's been a multitude of technical issues and human error on my part and even a fifteen minute online 'chat' with technical support in San Francisco!

I shared this picture of our lovely Little'un being cuddled by Muffin on Christmas Eve <3
Very sad today that Little'un shared her last purrs with us as she went to sleep for the last time.
Despite the enormous respiratory issues she's had since arriving here nearly four years ago it was a tumour that finally made the horrible decision for us.
... After a few days in our ICU she came out so she could spend her last moments in our reception. It's the place she has called home and thrived (in her own snotty way) since she accepted Feline Care as her forever home in August 2017. Many thanks to Lizzie from Knott's Yard Veterinary Practice for helping Little'un have a peaceful and dignified journey to the afterfields.
Little'un, a former undomesticated stray, hadn't had the most luxury of lives before arriving here and we're glad she got to know us all and grew to love us. She's held a big place in our hearts and her quirky ways and snotty kisses shall be greatly missed.
Run forever free Little'un xxx

Help us find a home for Bubbles! 16+ months old male who is now ready for his forever home <3 Please leave a message on 01953 718529 if you're considering adoption!
Bubbles has been a very special boy for us here. He arrived with huge behavioural issues and he was a serious health and safety problem due to his unpredictable but very dangerous aggression.
... We looked for help and safe solutions for him for weeks and after the weeks became months he was lucky enough to be offered a foster home. In a calmer and quieter environment his behaviour could be monitored and managed better and we were delighted when Lucy Bingley, Clinical Animal Behaviourist, offered Bubbles her services http://www.petbehaviourhelp.co.uk/
Now Bubbles has finally been deemed safe and ready to move on to his forever home his foster mummy, Wendy, has this to say about him:
"Bubbles has been with us for just over two months. We have taken things very slowly with him and have acted on ongoing advice from Lucy Bingley.
"At first, interactions with this lovely boy were kept short, so a few minutes play session with a rod toy fulfilled his hunting and play needs without exciting him too much. We took no chances on our safety and wore protective gear from head to toe which gave the neighbours much amusement, but you can't be too careful!
"As time went on playtimes and time spent just being with Bubbles increased and the protective layers of clothing decreased. We now wear normal clothes around him and spend time just 'hanging out' with him.
"He is generally happy to be picked up for a cuddle but we only do this when he is very relaxed and approaches us.
"Bubbles has shown us no aggression since he has been here but can get carried away when excited, such as jumping on feet etc. We found that if we kept our movements slow or just stood still and ignored him, he quickly settled down again.
"This beautiful energetic boy has much love to give but needs to be respected and allowed to dictate when he wants to be handled.
"He needs a calm, knowledgeable home with no other pets or children. It must be with someone willing to invest time playing with Bubbles and be committed to providing a stimulating environment as he has bundles of energy and is great fun to be with.
"Ideally his forever home will have safe, outdoor access, a countryside home would be ideal."

Smalley listened with great confusion while we told her how the chest freezer that was just kindly donated has been stolen this morning.
She says that she's a believer in Karma and stealing from cats is one of the baddest things she has heard of so the universe will give them eternal fleas and tapeworm :0) x

huge big thank you for looking after our fur babies. They are so loved already xxx

User

Wonderful centre, so caring and friendly . Great people who work hard to look after the cats until they find their forever home. Thanks to Molly and everyone who works there.

User

We have visited Feline care a number of times, usually dropping off donations and always took the time to look around the cats and have to be honest the conditions were first rate! Their standards are higher than some boarding businesses. We dealt with Molly who ate, slept and breathed the place.

User

Very friendly people and lovely cats! Very well looked after! We have just picked up our two cats and settling in slowly now!

User

Thank you so much for allowing me to meet all of your lovely residents today it made my day. It's so sad in one way that they are there at all but so good to see how well they are looked after and the comfort you give them while they await their forever home

User

Run by people who care, staffed by people who care and supported by people who care. Be more like them, and less like people who look the other way....

User

Kind, generous, sympathetic, and devoted are just a few among many words I would use to describe this place! The level of care and commitment offered are so high. All the cats are so happy and I couldn't think of a better place for my cats to be! Thank you for absolutely everything, honestly cannot express my gratitude enough!

User

I've just started volunteering here following a return to Norfolk and the need for cat cuddles. I'm falling in love with all the cats and the Team are great (all unpaid)

User

I volunteer at Feline Care, I adopted my 3 cats from there and fostered an old lady cat for her final days. It is lovely to see the feral groups roaming free and safe, and it is wonderful that the cats waiting for adoption have communal areas with so many scratch posts and toys. Everyone here is friendly, and loves the cats in their care.

User

I got our two gorgeous boys from feline cat care rescue, the adoption process is easy and we were encouraged to visit our new masters before we got to bring them home. Even now, eighteen months later Molly will still answer my questions and queries if I have any issues. I do wish this place was closer to home, would love to help out. When the time comes to increase my cat family I wouldn't hesitate to go back. Devoted cat people-there should be more like them in the world. Keep up your amazing work

User

I absolutely love these guys. After 9.5 years they got my missing boy back to me. Xxxxxxxxx

User

Having just lost our previous cat we didn't know if we were ready for another... We took some unused food to the sanctuary and Molly, having chatted for about ten minutes, took us to meet some cats. They wove their spell upon us and we found ourselves signing the forms. Now Lizzy and Chrissy are enjoying their 'forever' home and we're becoming more enchanted with every passing day. Molly and the team are superb; they know their cats and ensure that they get paired with suitable servants!!!

User

Feline Care is like no other cat rescue. The staff truly care and the volunteers are fantastic and work so hard, it's like a family who are looking after all the cats/kittens needing homes. I've adopted several from this rescue and helped in the background for some time and would not highly recommend if I didn't mean it. So nice to see cats in a home from home environment with loving care given to each and everyone of them. Happy rehoming :) xx

User

Fantastic people who obviously love their animals brilliant thank you for your patience with my little people and we are so excited to bring home out new furbabies !! Xx

User

At Feline Care the love, care and kindness you experience while walking anywhere within Feline Care is lovely.

I have had the fortune of meeting Molly and staff who are very passionate about their cats they look after and work very hard to achieve to get the cats their forever homes....

My visit there was with excitement and sadness :- we had lost our two beautiful cats mum & son on the same day! They were 13yrs & 10yrs old.......but felt so very lost not having cats around .......we found ourselves in the office at Feline Care talking with Molly telling them our story.......I had tears but also was excited about choosing two more cats......wise words was spoken from Molly that morning which made me feel better in myself..........which was “remember you are not letting your two down, they had a great life and now you can give another pair of cats their Forever Home” Thanks Molly

We adopted Archer & Katie who are absolutely amazing......we are experiencing different things with them that we didn’t with our other two....there is laughter in our home once again.....thank you to all at Feline Care.....I will continue to support you.......

User

An amazing place, the cats mean the world to molly and the amazing staff - this is a seriously outstanding centre where the cats are the same only priority - every penny goes to the cats and nothing is waisted on silly pointless things...

User
