A group of Brazilian and Portuguese customers regularly meet here at #FidgetAndBob on Friday nights for food, drinks and much laughing. We love that they met via Fidget & Bob - bringing people together is the best feeling.
As well as sharing their joyful meet-ups, they gifted us gorgeous Portuguese wine, homemade sponge cake (we are reliably informed that Madeira cake does not exist in Portugal), lupin beans, and homemade tiramisu.
They are really lovely people. And we love... lovely people.

In the midst of the sweaty heatwave today, a lovely customer turns up with a round of ice-cream because she knew we were melting. She doesn’t even live or work nearby. She came all the way to Kennet Island just to give us ice-cream. How awesome is that!?

On the hottest day of the year ever since days were created, staff refresher is an Hong Kong-style iced tea. Strong black tea, sweet & evaporated milk. Bit of an acquired taste in these quarters, but familiar to those who have been to Asia.

It is going to be mighty hot today. Those who have been in this week know how uncomfortable it gets inside the cafe. (Fortunately it is glorious outside for our customers.)
We will be shutting our grill at 3PM today until evening service starts at 6PM. This not only shuts down the hottest piece of equipment in the hottest part of the day. It also gives us a chance to give each member of the team a proper break to recharge and refresh for the evening service.
Cold & hot drinks..., beer, wine, cakes, cold sandwiches, noodle pots etc are all still available during the Grill Siesta.
We hope that this does not inconvenience many of you, and hope you understand.

This weekend's bread offering from Fidget & Bob
Sourdough White: A classic French sourdough loaf made with a pre-fermented sourdough with flour water and time. It has a deep, well-rounded sourdough flavour and a characteristically crunchy, dark crust.
Sourdough Wheat 'n' Rye w/Caraway & Coriander: Tartine Bakery inspired loaves, with the additions of caraway and coriander to produce loaves with character.
... Sourdough Wheat 'n' Rye Draught Malted Loaf: The addition of crystal and chocolate malts produces a loaf with a slight sweetness and chewy texture.
We will of course also have the delicious buttery Kouign Amann Breton pastry and cinnamon bun.
