Firstly, the chips were really nice. It does not make up for the second point. I have never ever been tempted to count my chips before.
There were 24, plus crumbs. That's a medium portion of chips for £1.90 or whatever it was. Middle aged woman served me, might try again with a different staff member. Maybe not.

So i previously wrote a review obviously saying how great and inexpensive this place is. They close late, everything is cooked to order and they do gluten free nights too! I live on mersea island and to be fair there is a better fish shop that serves the fish with no skin thank god. Thats the only differenc and served with lemon etc. But this is my second go to! Great please visit! You wont regret it!!

We eat from here fairly regularly as our Friday night treat. My daughter loves there saveloys. The chips can be hit and miss sometimes . The staff are friendly and efficient and clear queues quickly.

User

Its clean! The service is fast and friendly. The fish is cooked fresh and the chips are good. There's plenty of other options to eat, its easy to park outside. What more could you want?

User

The chips always taste reheated. Quite expensive

I live on mersea Island and the chips here are terrible. I drive down here if I would like chips. They are literally the best chips around here. On Tuesday and Wednesday they have gluten free options for everything! Brilliant place, friendly staff and everything made fresh to order! So that means no stale old chips or soggy ones.

Gluten free menu on Tuesday's and Wednesdays ,delicious and staff very well trained on cross contamination etc

One was most impressed by the hidden gem that is Fish'n'Chic'n. The ambience of the take away was excentuated by the two large tatooed ladies in the que who kept making japes at one accent. However the cod and chips was simply to die for. No wonder millions of refugees wish to come to the UK. There is nothing like this anywhere oitside of this sceptered isle. The delights of chips such as this conjures up thoughts of Winston Churchill, Dunkirk and killing those damned Nazi's in WWII. It makes one proud to be British. As a serving soldier when I am up to my arms in the giblets of wounded comrades I wont be thinking of Dianne Abbott, Jeremy Corbin or Tony Blair as my motivation to fight on. No. It will be great British fish and chips served from this fine chippy. As long as Fish'n'Chick'n keep frying, there will always be an England.

I've never been let down by the food in here, the fish and chips are always amazing it's so good that you can eat it without any ketchup or anything!

User

Always clean friendly staff and premises .Food always excellent and well cooked.observed to be constantly checking food temperature . Highly recommend .

User

Brilliant. The southern fried chicken is juicy and tender and not greasy at all! Wish they delivered !

User

Used to be one of the best places to get fish and chips, unfortunately quality control has slipped by the wayside. For the price you pay, this is certainly not worth it. Food tasted like cleaning products, will not be returning

User
