So who am I?
My name is Ryan. I have been a personal trainer for over 5 years but have worked in fitness for over 20
6 years ago I was diagnosed with a debilitating illness called Chronic Fatigue. Having been a keen cycling and commuting 40 miles a day to work and back and covering 25,000 miles in 4 years as well.as a keen sportsman, triathlete and father of 3 I was struck down.
... It left me in a very vulnerable place both physically and mentally
I would love to say I am fully recovered and back cycling and doing all the wonderful fitness gigs thats most other pts are able to enjoy. The massive biceps, flexing pecs and the tough guy mud runs. Unfortunately I have to be careful.
So why do I advertise this?
I think its important to understand that everyones goals and health and wellbeing are different. We are not all looking for 6 pack or a sub 3 hour marathon time. Someonetimes we just want to feel healthier or overcome something thats holding us back. As someone who is in that same boat I can understand that and support that.
I offer Personal Training that works for you, towards your goals and within your limits. I can empathise with your individual challenges but also drive you to find new limits and to expand your comfort zone

“Fat Jeans to Skinny Jeans”: My Training Journey
In January 2017 I found myself part of a team entered into a Half Tough Mudder. I also found myself fatter and more unfit than I have ever been. I actually weighed the same as I did when I gave birth to my first child, and I was bursting out of size 14 jeans. Not so much a “muffin top”, more like a whole cake shelf.
Complete panic set in when I realised that at only 5’ 2”, at some point I would have to be lifted up or hauled o...ver some obstacles. Something had to be done as I did not want to risk giving my team mates a hernia.
Not being a fan of gyms and not knowing what else to do I signed up for Personal Training with Fitness Tribe.
In hindsight it was the best thing I have ever done.
From the very first minute of the very first session it was clear that this was not any of the usual “run of the mill” trainers. Rather than using the gym, Ryan recommended outdoor training; combining a mixture of short runs with strength and conditioning work; as this would prepare my body for the Tough Mudder.
I’m not going to pretend it was easy, but it certainly has never been dull. No matter how self-conscious I felt, or incapable of doing the exercise, Ryan always knew exactly what to say to encourage me. There were several times when half an hour before training I would try and think of an excuse not to go. However, knowing Ryan was probably already on his way, and that although tough, it would be fun, I kept going.
Ryan has gently encouraged, cajoled and sometimes just shouted and screamed at me. No matter what mood I was in Ryan picked up on it and altered training to suit. The results I have achieved are awesome. I am still amazed at how far I have come. The Tough Mudder was fantastic and I didn’t give anyone a hernia.
I am now able to fit into size 12 skinny jeans, and the “cake shelf” is no more. To celebrate my success I burnt the “Fat Jeans”.
Training with Ryan was so much fun, so many laughs and with great results, that I decided to set new targets and continue working.
My recommendation to anyone would be: set yourself a goal or target, work hard to achieve it, but most of all HAVE FUN! This is why I shall continue to train with Fitness Tribe in 2018

What should you look for in a Personal Trainer?
Well shouldn't the number one aspect be fun?
Whilst I will offer you the right training for your goals, adjust your technique where needed and scream and shout at you if thats your thing, ultimately I believe your sessions should always be fun.
... I strongly believe that unless you buy into what we are doing you wont achieve your goals. I also believe you will never buy into achieving just by seeing results. It needs to be fun as well as hard and guided.
So if you are looking to achieve a goal but also make a friend and have some fun give me a shout.
