Technology is transforming the lives of people with learning disabilities in some really special ways - from using an app to communicate with a loved one for the first time to being able to cook a simple meal using a talking microwave...and sometimes...having a fabulous singalong on a huge touchscreen keyboard!

Sam, who works at FitzRoy - The Maltings Fakenham, is planning to use the sponsorship funds to purchase interactive sensory equipment for the people he supports that have more complex needs. #LearningDisabilities #Autism #SensoryEquipment #SensoryRoom #FitzRoyFundraiser

Worked for fitzroy for over 10 years. would recommend to anyone that think they can make a difference in someone's life.

We see the person, we are brave and we are creative. That is what I work towards. Them 3 values are always at the forefront of my support team, my deputy managers and myself when we are looking at providing support and promoting people. They lead us, they're the ones that are in charge and that's the way I like it.

Love working for FitzRoy. An organisation where all staff have the values at the heart of what they do.

I’ve only been with FitzRoy for a month but I’m loving my job. The training is great, the staff and managers are lovely. It feels great to be part of a great team to make a difference to people’s lives. Glad I came to this company.

It’s amazing! Met my husband through group like this! X

I've worked in the fundraising department at FitzRoy for two years and am humbled by our Support Workers' dedication, compassion and sense of fun. I also love to learn how the money we raise in Head Office makes a difference in our services. This morning, I visited one of our day centres where they happened to be holding a karaoke session using a fantastic Clevertouch screen funded by a generous donor. Staff were stunned when one gentleman, who hasn't spoken to anyone in the 14 years he's been coming, started singing, a very special moment.

I joined the company in July this year as Service Manager for Nottinghamshire. The vision that Fitzroy have for the clients they support is evident. The induction and training is the best I have seen in the 27+ years I have worked in the care support sector.

As a manager I feel fully supported with my role and even though the support is not visible day to day, I know it is there and nothing is ever too much trouble. The staff benefits are an additional bonus and are there for all to access.

I have now been with Fitzroy for nearly 1 year. Everyday I am humbled by the exceptional support I see to the people we support and am humbled by this. I feel proud to be part of an organisation that is, Creative and Brave and sees the person. The support from all I work with is wonderful and I am so glad that I am entering my 28th year in this sector with Fitzroy!

User

I have worked in the care sector for over 30 years and for Fitzroy for the last two years. I started my Fitzroy journey as a rota coordinator but because of Fitzroy's strong values and how they see the person I was supported by management to continue in my Fitzroy journey and join the support at home team. I wake up every day and look forward to the day ahead and the positive changes I support people to make in their lives. I would highly recommend working for Fitzroy not only does Fitzroy change the lives of the people they support, my life is fuller in enabling people to make these changes.

I have worked for FitzRoy for over 2 years now, starting as a support worker I quickly progressed to Deputy Manager. I believed in FitzRoy's values from the word go which attracted me to the company initially. Over 2 years on I'm still working for the company and striving to change the lives of the people we support. FitzRoy will support and guide there employees with career development providing training opportunities tailored to meet service needs. Over the years I have worked within other care providers and truly believe Fitzroy are by far the best, their approach to person centred care is exceptional and the best I have ever known.

User

I have worked at Fitzroy for 3 years. The work is challenging but very rewarding.

User

I have only just started working for Fitzroy. The training is outstanding, the care and support for people is second to none, the management care for the staff as well as the people in their care...its just amazing. I feel privileged to be working at Fitzroy. xxx

I have been working for fitzroy for a few months now and absolutely love it, its no longer a chore going to work. The training has been excellent and very thorough. I have found everyone I've met to be totally committed to doing their upmost to ensure the service users have the best quality care and attention. I feel like I've found my forever job and look forward to each shift .

User

I have been with Fitzroy for coming up to 7 years know. The longest job I've had by far. I just love what I do and making a difference to the people i support, makes every moment worth while. Its never a chore it's always a joy to go to work.

User

Great Charity to work for. I have really enjoyed working here for the last year!

18th August 2017 update - Having worked for FitzRoy for 4 years now I can honestly say it is the best place I have worked in my whole a career. There is a huge sense of pride for our charity and I get the chance to visit many of our services; seeing all of the fantastic support workers working hard with the people we support. I never leave a service without a smile on my face as the happiness is apparent in the way people are being supported to live their lives.

User

I have only worked at Fitzroy for a short time and must disagree with the posts I have just read firstly the training and support I got was excellent and the 2 services that I worked in was very very good both for the service user and staff members my manager was very helpful and helped me to move to another service....and on a very personal note after working for only 4 months I was diagnosed with cancer and the support I have received has been excellent especially my immediate manager who has helped me and reassured me and after a year I am still not fit for work and at no point have a felt under pressure to return and when I do things will be put in place to help me so I don't understand why the other person was so upset...also I would highly recommend anyone thinking of joining the team or placing loved ones in their care I have worked at other places and Fitzroy is one of the best in my opinion..............

User

I've worked for the company twice now and can honestly say it has got worse, poor management, no one listens to what you have to say, incidents happen and get brushed under the carpet staff get blamed for not reading and signing policies and even head office sent an email to me saying that the incident happened because of not reading through support plans. Company's a joke, area manager authorising members of staff intimidating them to take a service users car and do floating support in it service user hasn't even got capacity. Managers shaggin their way up to the position, posts getting given to staff without getting advertised as an equal opportunity. I got sacked when I am fully competent of my role, when there's idiots working for the company that can't even take care of theirselves never mind a vulnerable adult! Fitzroy are all about money, not about the people they support or care for, treat staff like shit overwork them then when they get ill sack um for having genuine time off work. CQC informed regarding staff ratio/management/neglect.

User

Awful company to work for, you tell management of your concerns and it just gets brushed under the carpet. I was out in the community on my 2nd stint at the company and all I can say they don’t care as long as they are getting the money for the person that is being supported. They never follow anything up, but they can talk a good company when it comes into practice it’s shocking, everything is pushed to one side hoping people forget about it, and they can’t even pay wages correctly, I would never recommend this company to anyone. Stay well clear and if you have any family members needing support please don’t even consider this joke of a company. I feel sorry for the people that are being (supported) if that’s what you can call it!
