Please share and recommend this page to friends, family and musicians.... Peripatetic music lessons end in schools at the beginning of the summer holidays. Private lessons are available through out school terms, half terms and holidays. 6 weeks is a long time without continuing studies. Lessons are available through out the summer period (Flute, Clarinet, Saxophone and Theory). Book now to avoid disappointment! With private lessons you can guarantee; 1-1 teaching, lessons se...t to suit you and your ability, a sense of self achievement and quicker improvement/advancement in learning. Why not try it out for yourself and decide whether school time is the right time for instrumental education.
As I am hired by you to teach you or your child, there is no external pressure pushing advancement at an unsuitable speed. The need to advance and practice (possibly progress for exams) comes from the musician themselves. It’s all up to you. I’m here to guide the way.

Please don’t leave instruments in a hot car (for too long) even in their case. The heat will cause the instrument to be very sharply pitched. Similarly to the heat from a radiator, hot weather will speed the effects of tarnishing over time. The worst affected instrument in this heat will be the flute. Keep them cool in the airconditioned car, or in a shaded boot. When at home, place them in a cool shaded area.
IMPORTANT MESSAGE!
Do NOT buy these music books if you are a graded student. Abrsm have altered the scales through out the grades ever so slightly. (I didn’t think it was possible but it is!). If you already have these books, don’t worry about buying the new books. I can alter your book to suit the grade you need. The new Abrsm books for each instrument have been split into grades 1-5 and 6-8. [money making move]
Lessons as normal today! Hope all have had a lovely Easter!Lessons as normal today! Hope all have had a lovely Easter!
I’m hoping that the road closure will know longer be shut when I’m due to come into Hereford today. Students with lessons in Belmont today will be notified if I am running late. Hopefully that will not be the case as I’m leaving extra early to allow for finding a route in. Especially with the road closure of the callow too. Hope all travelling to lessons remain safe.
Pleasantly surprised by the Abrsm grade 3 flute syllabus tonight. A definite classic which sounds so beautiful played by my student. Could definitely make the chosen exam pieces list.
As Easter is upon us....
Just a reminder that lessons are not affected by this Easter bank holiday. Timings resume as normal and lesson costs remain the same.

Purchased specifically for grades students these practice notebooks allow student feedback as they work towards their exams. When away from lesson times valuable information may be forgotten or questions may arise. Due to the student comments section I can continue working on building up strong exam performers.
Lessons with my transitioning to intermediate graded students today. Building skills for the extra exam requirements.
Did you know.... -I have choral vocal training and can prepare students for Aural examinations - That 80% of my life so far has been dedicated to reading and playing music - The only woodwind instrument I’m yet to play is the bassoon. - Before learning woodwind I was learning the recorder, trumpet and guitar. ... - I’ve played my flute in Hereford Cathedral once but sang there 4 times in different concerts. - I’m a major musical fan and sing them most of the time, although I’ve only seen 3 on the west end. -I am currently the only graded instrumental musician in my family. - I enjoy reading music manuscripts than books with words.

As we are starting to approach the new exam season and work towards grades. There’s always space for a great incentive to work hard. Although chocolate is the nemesis of any woodwind player prior to performance it’s such a great treat to have afterwards and in times of grade celebrations. Supporting a local business of another self employed parent there could be some super yummy things arriving on results day. Better keep practicing!
Start of a new musical week. Happy playing!
Lessons still available for Monday’s in Hereford.

*New Grade 5 resources* To improve aural training for exams, associated board workbooks and CD have been purchased.
Aural may only be a small part of the exam, but it can make all the difference to which grade boundary a result falls into.
Looking (and playing) into the music board syllabus and there’s some really interesting solo pieces for students to choose from.
