Flying Club Conington

On Saturday 1st of June, not only do we have our BBQ - but also the Harvard will be here from around 10.00! If anybody would like a 20 minute flight, it can be arranged at a special rate of £366. 🤩

Everybody welcome to fly - or to drive- into Conington Airfield for our Summer BBQ. Locally produced sausage and burgers. Open until Four, weather permitting- or until we run out!.

Don’t forget folks, on Thursday nights we are open in the evening- and this Thursday is QUIZ night! 7 pm start. Please come along if you can 👍

What a week! Thursday saw the 75th anniversary of the first 457th flight from Conington/ Glatton which we celebrated by toasting the brave 457th with Bourbon at the site of the old control tower. Sunday saw a gathering in the churchyard at Conington where wreaths were laid and all remembered those things given - and received - with gratitude and emotion. Teas and coffees later at the Airfield reinforced our heritage.
... Whilst a propellor turns at Conington all who have flown from there will be remembered.

Dear All, February 21st marks the 75th anniversary of the first B17 mission flown from Glatton/Conington. This post, shared from Erwin de Mooij details what will be going on in celebration on Sunday. Geoff Goodchild will be representing the Airfield and the Flying Club on Sunday and laying a wreath on behalf of all who have flown from or been involved with the Airfield. Please get involved if you would like to.... We are all so proud of the heritage we help to continue.

You never know who you will meet at Conington. Today we welcomed 92 year old Spitfire pilot Ian Bucklow who flew with Instructor Graham McFarland revisiting old skills. Ian hopes to fly here regularly and fill a few pages in his new Log book. Sadly his old ones are lost.
