Last week we congratulated our Senior Player Analyst Henry on making this his 6th year as a Radar.
Henry joined us in 2012, with a strong background in football coaching and performance analysis. As Henry made his way through League Analysis training, he became our very first Japanese J-League 1 analyst! Henry's player performance analysis experience lent itself perfectly to being involved in our Player Analysis project, where he is now also responsible for providing feedback to our Analysts. Putting his great coaching experience to use, Henry also lead an internal scouting course for a selection of Analysts, running workshops and giving a great insight into the industry; along with this he's been a great ambassador and volunteer in our charity partnership with Football Beyond Borders. Thank you for the great work, Henry!

This month we ran a Football Radar/FBB Careers Day for Year 10 students, giving them a chance to experience the working experience at our London office first hand as well as exposing them to a range of careers they may never have considered before.
The event was a huge success, consisting of a number of workshops hosted by our Football Analytics and Development teams. We received some fantastic feedback from the kids, teachers and everyone involved. Thanks to all volunteers for their contribution, the teachers and FBB staff for their help on the day and the kids for their enthusiasm and interest throughout the workshops.
We look forward to the next Careers Day!

Our Analyst team in Plovdiv have been enjoying this amazing World Cup, having watched all 3960 minutes ⏱️ of action so far! With a whopping 116 goals registered ⚽, 147 Yellow cards and only 3 Red cards. Bring on the knock out stages!

We spoke with our Software Engineer Nick Skehin about what it's like working at Football Radar! ⚽💚
"I have a fairly standard software engineering background. I liked maths and science at school and learned to program by fiddling around with games.
... This then led to a Computer Science degree at University. Before I joined Football Radar I did an internship with a company in Seattle before working with Citymapper here in London making transport apps. I really enjoy functional programming, so it’s good that we use lots of Scala here.
The best thing about working with Football Radar is that I enjoy working in a place with loads of smart people and one where everyone's opinion is valued. The flat structure here definitely makes it easier to understand why certain things are being done and allows us to work on the things with the most impact.
It’s also great working around the big international tournaments. There is so much focus around the office and plenty of tweaking to make sure our predictions are as accurate as possible."
