Cornwall in the winter is one of the UKās best-kept holiday secrets. What could a weekend break at Deerpark offer you?
We've just spent an amazing four days at Deerpark. The staff were incredible from the start to the finish, the location is perfect, quiet, relaxing and comfortable.
We have had a good laugh reading the bad reviews on here which are a reflection on the guests and not the lodges. They are log cabins in the middle of a beautiful forest, miles from anywhere, if you want Ritz Hotel comforts, then stay in the city and keep out of Cornwall.
Having said that the customer service here blows the Ritz away, all of the staff are friendly and helpful, leaving us feeling welcome and wanted. The cabin was everything we wanted, and the food and drink on site were exceptional.
I loved the lack of mobile signal, the walk to the homely reception for breakfast in the morning and just being able to switch off or get in the car and visit the local attractions that are all within a short drive.
We've just returned from our first visit to Deer Park. We loved our stay: using the lodge as a base to explore the beautiful coasts, villages and countryside of Devon. We found the lodge well-equipped, clean and luxurious as promised. The hot tub was a real bonus at the end of a tiring day of walking. As we are a family with a teenager we didn't participate in any of the organised events so can't comment. All the staff were helpful and friendly, food good in The Hub and WiFi sorted with no problem. We loved the peaceful tranquillity of this place, unspoiled by the 5am alarm call courtesy of the noisy geese! We hope to visit other Forest Holiday parks in the near future.
We loved it. We know the sofa isn't the most comfortable but at the end of the day it's somewhere to take a pit stop from walking ļæ½ or being in the hot tub or just being on the balcony! The staff were awesome and we took our dog Loki and he was treated the same as we were if not better!! The views were beautiful and so was the serenity! Just pure nature at its best....We are definitely coming back and maybe next year for our honeymoon ļæ½ x
We came to Deerpark on 18th March for our mini moon.
We had the warmest of welcomes and were given all info needed.
The lodge was beautiful and the setting just as stunning.
The one and only negative thing I can say is the sofa! Oh my word...small, uncomfortable, just horrid. We ended up taking the back cushions off and used spare duvet to get comfy and to actually have room to sit on it!
Overall an amazing experience and one we would love to re visit but please please sort the sofa!
This was our third stay at Deerpark and it was as fantastic as the previous two. We h ad amazing weather which was fab but its a great place whatever the weather. We enjoyed long walks through the very peaceful forest; loved our golden oak with fluffy robes and slippers, the hot tub was fab as usual and we made the most of our Gas BBQ. Our two dogs love the walks and sitting outside the Forest Hub to enjoy a few cold beers was really lovely. Can't wait to come again!
This was our first time at deer park on a midweek break and while I sit having a fab breakfast at the great forest hub writing my review before we leave for home, Iām already booking again, but this time for a week. The staff are amazing and friendly, the lodges are spacious and well equipped, the hot tubs are toasty warm and clean and the woodland walks a joy, the ease of coming and going to one of the many local attractions nearby also mean you never get bored. Our 6 year old loved it and said āitās way better than center parcsā enough said ļæ½ļæ½
Superb!!!
If you want tranquility, peace and quiet in beautiful surroundings look no further. Such a beautiful area to explore, lovely mapped out walks and plenty of activities to do.
Staff were faultless, they cannot do enough for you, super friendly and nothing was to much trouble.
Food on site is yummy, and a nice touch is the lovely bakery goods they offer, you can place your order the day before and collect first thing in the morning still warm!
We enjoyed it so much we've booked again for November.
Such a lovely place. This is our second time staying at the deerpark and we love it! The scenery is beautiful and the cabins are perfect for a chilled break. The staff couldnāt do enough for us and were very helpful. The only slight problem we had is that the hot tub didnāt work properly as the lights wouldnāt come on and the pumps werenāt very powerful at all but we were told that was as strong as they get as they are old but other than that we had a wonderful weekend and looking forward to our next weekend away here.
Such a beautiful holiday location! The cabins are immaculate, luxurious and secluded, though close enough by car for some lovely trips away to local harbours. It is the first time we have been here and I would definitely love to come back and certainly recommend it. The staff are friendly and obviously have great passion for it here. I feel very lucky to be here ā¤ļø
Our first time at Deerpark and have loved every minute. Peaceful, lovely cabin with hot tub and great walks and wildlife to watch. Helpful and pleasant staff. Definitely coming again soon
My partner and I stayed from Friday to Monday for my birthday weekend and we did not want to leave! We had a Silver Birch cabin and it was amazing, despite the steps we had to go up it was a beautiful view out at the trees being so high up and very secluded for using the hot tub. Everything was lovely inside and very very warm too. We tried the archery which was great with Harris and hired bikes for a few hours. We went up the hill and along to the forestry commission, somehow we got very lost but had a lovely time. It was very peaceful and I would love to go back again in the future :)
Lovely Christmas break, really did feel like christmas, the lodge was clean and tidy and lots of room, beautiful real christmas tree to, the staff where very friendly and helpful, but best of all was the hot tub, it was the perfect christmas break would return.
Fantastic place to stay, staff were amazing efficient and great with the kids, the cabins were brilliant clean we had so much fun doing some of the activities on offer, will definitely return.
Deerpark is a beautiful location, set in the forest with lodges by the lake.
We received a very warm welcome from all the staff during our stay last week.
Great idea of the duck races for the kids & adults, well done Martin! Pub quiz was a good laugh in the hub, Laura made it a fantastic night, loved the cider tasting & raising money for great charities!
We try different forest holiday locations, but hope to come back at some point !! ļæ½
Beautiful location and brilliant staff, me and the family (wife & 2 dogs) had a fantastic weekend. Good hub to explore Cornwall from. The quiz on the Saturday was a good laugh. Will be back in future!
Another beautiful weekend. The hub is looking great, lovely and cosy. Highlight was seeing a Jay and Marsh Tit outside our cabin, amongst many other birds and squirrels.
Great addition of hot tub towels, robes and slippers in the golden oak.
Annoying that our neighbours in 23 were cackling and swearing until gone 11pm. Would be lovely if you had security going around after 10pm checking people are being quiet. We go there for peace and quiet.
Amazing place, very tranquil, nice walks and scenery, but take walking boots and wellies just in case! The hot tub, what can I say! All the staff were friendly and helpful. There is a hub with a bar, restaurant and you could order food to eat delivered to your cabin! There are some activities but not as many as I would have thought! The accommodation was out of this world! I would definitely go there again! The seaside in Looe is about 15 mind drive away! ļæ½ļæ½ļæ½ļæ½
Amazing place, amazing scenery, amazing accommodation, made even better by the amazing staff. Upon your welcome you will be blown away the the luxurious cabin, ours was complete with a log burner, BBQ (which we still made full use of even in freezing Feb) Not to forget the hot tub, no better way to enjoy the fantastic views - even in the rain.
The staff are extra special and each deserve a special mention. We arrived later than expected and were greeted by a sleepy but very happy Harris sitting by the log fire, he told us what we need to know and made us feel so welcome from the start. We had an archery class booked and the tutor couldnāt attend so Harris stepped in and did a fantastic job.
Then we met Martin, amazing man with a depth of geology and historical knowledge, he took us on a day walk with his dogs, he taught us which plants are safe to eat, about the different trees and beautiful rocks planted around the forest. We were supposed to do a walk at night to view the star constellations however due to rain we couldnāt use the night vision kit - however it didnāt stop us! Martin still made it so worth it as his passion and knowledge was worth every penny, actually more. He then took us to Deerparks own museum, donāt miss it, itās incredible what can be found underground! Martin made our holiday, you wonāt meet anyone like him.
Then thereās Ellie, a warm soul, again, whoās passion for Deerpark forest shone through, I look forward to meeting her as a ranger on my next visit!
Laura is a fantastic character! We came late to the pub quiz feeling a bit worse for wear, but soon forgot as the night begun! Samples of local cider were handed to us thoughout the evening and she made sure everyone was happy and involved. The buzz that was created and the smiles at the tables all around say it all! We lost the quiz and was given a Forest Holidays rubber duck which now has pride of place on the side of our bath! As a person who hates pub quizzes - we were the last to leave!
Even without the staff, the place is amazing - pick the right month and you can get it dirt cheap too. There couldnāt be a bad month to go.. rain, shine, snow, spring, winter autumn, book it- you wonāt regret.
Now I think they need to hire me in headoffice in sales and marketing!! - but Iāve genuinely been blown away!
Absolutely amazing place , far away from any roads and any mobile signals
The staff are brilliant and so nice to be able to sit in your own hot tub ( even in the rain )
Would recommend to anyone and everyone the food on site is all good to
Amazing experience
