Superb. Joyce and Colin were perfect hosts, food was great quality and our room was spotless. What more could we ask.

Where can you get yummy food, good conversation, great beer and an inexpensive clean hostel stay? The Forest View Inn is the place.

The staff was very accommodating and encourages their guests to mingle over meals, which was so much fun!

The hostel was unlike anywhere we've stayed: budget friendly, clean, good facilities and we happened to get our own room which was nice.

Colin and Joyce were fantastic hosts and they worked tirelessly throughout our stay to ensure that we had a fabulous and memorable 2 day stay. The rooms were great, the food was fantastic, Colin serves some excellent real ale and has a great range of whisky. Colin also has a great sense of humour and we enjoyed his company over a few beers each evening. The package they offer of db&b and bag transfer is excellent value and the mini bus rides to the pick up point off Windy Gyle were great fun. I can't remember enjoying a ham and pickle sandwich more while taking in the sublime views on the last two days of the Pennine Way walk.

Thoroughly lovely place. My brother and I stayed a night in the bunkhouse here during our recent Pennine Way walk. It was clean, warm and well-equipped, and the main inn had a grand little bar with good beers on, plus a conservatory and a drying room. The proprietors, Colin and Joyce, really made the place - they're very friendly and welcoming, they tell great stories, and when we went into the drying room before bed we found that they'd already been in and turned all our wet stuff over for us to make sure it dried properly. Above and beyond the call of duty, given the filthy state of our kit!

After a Long walk from Bellingham Forest View was a treat to reach. From the start you are made to feel very welcome your boots are taken away to be cleaned & dried followed by a nice cup of tea. Food both evening & breakfast is excellent. Don't worry about details of where to be picked up next day, this is all explained in the morning & it works!

The best place that we stayed at on the Pennine Way.

We briefly stopped here in mid January, whilst doing a race, the owners couldn't have been more accommodating, providing us with hot drinks and food, purely out of good will and in support of the race. That in my opinion speaks volumes about these guys and what lengths they will go to, to make their guests feel comfortable. If you are doing the Pennine Way or need a place to stay in the area, then you will be well looked after here.

The owner of the inn as well as his wife are really lovely and the service is excellent. Even though we 'only' used the campsite, which is the beautiful garden at the back of the inn, we had the chance to enjoy the deliscious breakfast. Apart from the helpful tipps for hiking and wandering around in the area, the owner also gave us maps and books for our planned trips. Not only is there a beautiful bar with good local beer, but there is also a cosy corner with books, board games, and maps. The price of the drinks as well as the breakfast and especially for the campsite were very good!
