Forever Swim Description

Forever Swim Babies- Baby Swim Program

Why baby swimming?
We have created an enjoyable and successful swim program for babies. Swimming offers babies a unique form of exercise that stimulates their senses, body and mind. Research shows that swimming at an early age can increase baby's emotional, intellectual, language and physical development. It also provides a special bonding experience for both adult and baby.

Our lessons follow a structured program introducing baby to water, developing water confidence, early swimming skills and safety. The program is designed to be progressive as your baby grows and develops.

Lessons will cover the following key activities: -
- Teaching key support holds for you and your baby
- Developing muscle memory for baby through exercises encouraging kick and reach,
- Developing ability to float and glide
- Developing rotation within the water
- Teaching baby breath control to allow progressive submersion
- Teaching key water safety skills, e. g. return to the side recovery technique
- Techniques aimed at encouraging both independence and early water confidence
- Baby will learn key word association through song and rhyme designed to familiarise baby with the important skills needed to develop into a confident swimmer

When can my baby start?
You can introduce baby to water from birth and as soon as you and baby feel ready. The NHS website (www. immunisation. nhs. uk) states that there is no need to have vaccinations before you take baby swimming, however we recommend that you check with your GP or Health Visitor for guidance. We offer advice and activities that you can practice at bath time prior to joining us and we usually find that baby and you are ready to start lessons at around 12 weeks.
You can start part way through a block as individual help and support will be given. Each baby is unique and instruction is tailored at every stage.
