Forge Mill Needle Museum & Bordesley Abbey Visitor Centre

The animals have all gone to sleep and farm day has finished. We would like to thank all of our amazing farmers and performers for coming, and of course, all of our wonderful visitors for braving the Summer weather. Hope everyone had a great time!

Our Farm Day is in full swing! The farm will be here until 3pm. Final puppet show will be at 3pm and live music, stalls and our bouncy barn will be here until 4pm so come on down!
Adults £3. Children free.

Staff at Forge Mill are busy getting ready for Farm Day tomorrow (2nd June)! There will be lots to see and do with animals, tractors, puppet shows and live music so come on down!
Gates open 11am to 4pm. Adults £3. Children free.
Farmyard open 11am to 3pm.... Bouncy barn open 11am to 4pm - £1/bounce! Live music at various times 11am to 4pm. Puppet shows at 11:30, 1:30 and 3pm.

Signs of flowering life in the museum grounds today. Here's hoping for some good weather for our Farm Day on June 2nd!

Come down to the museum to see our new bevy of swans, cygnets hatched earlier this week and are now on the water.
Why not also view our exquisite lace Swan in our needle lace exhibition, on display until 16th June 2019.

**ART WORKSHOP ON 23rd MAY 2PM TO 4PM**
Spaces are still available for Scour Forge Mill's art workshop this Thursday. It will use the mill's needle collection to explore different types of fabric and embroidery techniques. Attendees will be able to experiment with drawing, stitch and collage with objects collected from nature!

What a terrific day remembering the 1940's! The weather held off until the very end of the day luckily, and enjoyed by all our participants in character and visitors who'd come to enjoy the wartime atmosphere and live music throughout the day.
Well done to all involved and thank you to all our visitors today for making it an event to remember.

**REMEMBERING THE FORTIES EVENT SUNDAY 19TH MAY**
Don't forget, this Sunday we shall be remembering the 1940s at Forge Mill with classic cars, toys and games, wartime music and much more! Come on down in your best gladrags or uniform and step back in time!
Adults £3. Children £1. 11am to 4pm.

It's #NationalMillsWeekend so here is a video of our overshot water wheel in action! It was used to power the 19th century scouring beds which cleaned and polished Redditch's needles before they were shipped all over the world!
To celebrate, entry to the museum is reduced today (Sunday 12th May). Adults £2 and children free!

**ART WORKSHOPS AT FORGE MILL**
Throughout May and June Forge Mill is welcoming back the Scour Forge Mill project which will be exploring how the mill and its people interact with the surrounding countryside.
Everyone is invited to get involved in fun and hands on workshops on the following dates:
... 18th May, 1st June, 8th June, 15th June for Hook and Line stencil making workshops to create a picture trail throug the Arrow Valley Country Park.
23rd May, 30th May, 6th June, 20th June, 27th June for drawing, stitch and collage workshops inspired by Forge Mill's needle collection.
25th May for a one day art walk and workshop exploring the landscape using mixed media collage and mono print techniques.
