After a couple of months waiting for it to be fabricated and shipped we have just completed building the Quick Performance Ford 9" Lsd rear end for a 1970 Ford Mustang 428 Cobra Jet. Beautiful bit of kit, thicker axles, thick wall tubing, gusseted and a true track 3.50 in there. All done and ready to be delivered to the customer tomorrow 😎

Here is a rather special numbers matching 428 Mustang Cobra Jet engine we have been working on for a while. Now all buttoned up and ready to go. It came with a std bore and luckily being a very low mileage engine,it managed to retain its original bore size! No expense spared with this one,a nice lumpy comp cams grind camshaft, full ARP Hardware bolt kit, brand new Holley 750cfm carb,Moroso baffled and winged trapdoor oil pan,Petronix billet Flamethrower distributor,Ultrasonic wash by Stanwood Engineering (yet another flawless job) and the valve covers polished by Bim at Pugz Polishing, the list goes on. This is one special engine, going in a very special car. Next in,is the C4 transmission to bolt up to it and judging by the fluid/water that came out of it,it's going to be a full rebuild!

Well, it's been a very busy week at Forrest's Speedshop this week. Lots of moving and painting and wiring and sweeping. Nearly there now bar a few aesthetics. The CCTV, Alarm, and extra security are all now in place and we now have a swing out jib with electric hoist to make engine lifting quicker and easier, a dedicated engine build area and an office with a chaise longue for those late nights or Kate Winslet in Titanic moments! Ready to function now and couldn't have come at a better time as the Ford 428 Cobra Jet is back after some special attention from Stanwood Engineering. (Great job as always) Plus the parts for the build are slowly rolling in thick and fast so after the weekend we shall be on it! If anyone wants to do some painting. Give me a shout 😂

Well that's the Ford 428 Cobra Jet engine torn down and ready for a trip to Stanwood Engineering for a a bit of ultrasonic love :D

Here is the latest engine build to roll through Forrest's Speedshop's doors. A numbers matching Ford 428cu Corbrajet engine out of a 1970 Mustang Fastback. This ones going to be a special one!

Here's another one ready to go out the door. Ford 2.0 Pinto that a previous customers brother (Mk1 Golf build) had a rather expensive rebuild on. On closer inspection it turned out to be a bit of a mess. Worn crank pulley, rotating assembly 50grams out, piston rings not gapped and very tight, cam assembly rusty and poorly adjusted cylinders not honed correctly, crank end float too sloppy, cylinder head warped, poor repair on oil sump, poorly prepped flaking paint the list go...es on! So into Forrest's Speedshop it came for a full tear down and rectification and it will now sit proudly in a tidy Mk2 Escort. Happy days! Next build will be back to the correct amount of cylinders :D

The latest engine to come out of Forrest's Speedshop. A little VW MK1 Golf 1.5 8v JB Engine. Customer brought a basket full of parts and a block that had been sat for over a decade with no head on it. It is a numbers matching engine with low miles so the customer desperately wanted us to try and save it! A few hours swearing,un-seizing and as usual a great Ultrasonic block wash by Stanwood Engineering and it came back good after a hone. ... Pistons were shot so some new 79.5mm pistons, rings and pins were weight matched to 0.5g and fitted along with new bearings top to bottom and a reworked head with a peppy high lift cam in there. Customer plans to run low so asked for one of our trademark heavy duty sump plates, this one is complete with a VW “Wear Indicator” Painted in POR 15 Black and Silver and Eastwood's Aluma Blast paint which is a great OE finish as requested. Another one saved, onto the next with the correct amount of cylinders!

Just out visiting a rather tasty Pontiac firebird with a 350 Pontiac motor that's not been started up for a while. We rebuilt the carb for this a few weeks ago and came up to set the engine up. Lots of tasty speed parts in this recently imported ex drag car. Just an exhaust blow to sort out and the engines ready to go.

Here is a rather special little Fiat Uno Turbo engine. Been ongoing for a number of months as parts are VERY difficult to get hold of! Customer dropped a box of junk off and asked us to build an engine so we got to work! A few specs: Engine has been bored to 81mm as well as decked.(Another fantastic job by Stanwood Engineering)... Techno Forged rods JE Forged pistons (Designed by GCR and specially made for this job as none available) ARP Hardware Ported, polished and gas flowed head. Colombo & Bariani Camshaft 294/292 Piper vernier pulley. Painted in Oldsmobile Gold(Customer is possibly colour blind) Special manganese plated sump, designed and fabricated in house @ Forrest's Speedshop.
Will eventually have a hybrid turbo and uprated fuelling goodies bolted to it before it is put inside its new home.
This one was a bit of a challenge what with getting a bucket of bits and a manual, but we are happy with the finished product (ok maybe not the colour)
Onto the next one (with the correct amount of cylinders)

Just been to run in a lovely Series 1 RS turbo engine we built last year. Was finally ready for 1st start up. Sounds sweet as a nut and with a ported and polished head, newman high lift cam and a hybrid turbo she's going to fly!Just the final ignition timing left to do as soon as we get the original cambelt cover with the timing marks on and we are away!

Update on the Americana Show from Chris Jackson. Be great to see this show back to it's former glory. These shows need our support before they all dissappear!
Got up at 6.30am with a lot on my mind, this evening at 6pm Bev & I are having our second meeting with the boss of the new venue for Notts Americana 2018. I hope we can release the full confirmation of this great venue that carries so much history with it and has a good connection with the USA too. Which is going to he...lp boost the interest in our festival from people who will be interested in it's very interesting past and moving forward into the future.. The dates are set in stone (according to the Events Director) and we have the full venue which includes the fantastic buildings which have all the necessary facilities required to run the festival and keep our supporters happy and safe. What we definitely need is a bigger show of support on here and the other social media sites. If you are genuinely going to support us please start sharing this information as I post it, the future of Notts Americana lies in the hands of those who support is... What we can promise you all is that we and our team will give you the best return ever, two years of forced cancellations have given us hell. It doesn't help when people turn on us blaming us when they don't know the true facts. Thankfully many of those who have known us will know we always try to present a fantastic weekend of live music, dance, automobiles, trucks and motorcycles. That will never change as those have all been a big part of Notts Americana since the start of the 80s... Please do not listen to hearsay if you want to know the facts then contact us, do not listen to crap from jealous people who have nothing better to do with their own lives.. So the dates are July 6-7-8th 2018 near Newark Nottinghamshire UK... Please remember if you want to attend for the duration you must pre-book.....Details of the new prices etc will be announced in a few days and booking forms will be mailed out to all those who are on our data base, sooner than later. Cheers....CJ
