Bath and North East Somerset Council provides a full range of services for children in need through our Safeguarding, Social Care and Family Services; these include the Fostering Service.

The purpose of the Fostering Service is to recruit, develop and support foster carers and to enable them to provide the day to day care required by the children and young people looked after by Bath and North East Somerset.

This Service is fully supported by the Children’s Service and all Council services. We are committed to working in partnership alongside and in support of our foster carers to promote the highest levels of health, education and well-being for all our Children in Care.

The Fostering Service provides family placements for Children in Care from Bath and North East Somerset. The majority of the children cared for by the Council are placed with families (81% ). We are pleased that this is higher than the national average of 75% . Bath and North East Somerset Council believes that children benefit from living in a family environment in or close to their community. The Council’s policy is to provide a family placement as a first choice for all of our children. The Fostering Service assumes the lead role in achieving this for Children in Care.
