Blizzard ❄️ in Letea 🐎!
In February our local partners ARCA (Animal Rescue and Care Association) in Romania were planning to vaccinate and support more wild horses 🐎🐎 in Letea, when they were surprised by a strong blizzard!
The team led by Dr. Ovidiu Rosu acted fast, loaded bales of hay onto their car and drove out to the horses to distribute the fodder to ensure the food supply of the horses. Thanks to our supporters we were able to stock up on fodder to be prepared for su...ch events❤️.

Our team in Vietnam received an urgent call from a concerned tourist who found 6 dumped kittens. The kittens were left in the pouring rain, lying in their own faeces. Kittens born on the street in Vietnam often don't survive because they are often stolen for the trade-in cat meat.
Fortunately, they were brought to the reception centre through our Cats Matter Too program, where they were treated for malnutrition, dehydration, parasites, and eventually sterilized. About 4 weeks after they were saved, Gem, Ginger, Gravy, Granola, Ginseng and Guacamole were again healthy kittens who played a lot, ate and ready for adoption 💖

#TigerKing: imagine a world where captive tigers 🐯 are no longer exploited for profit and greed 💰.
Throughout the EU, it is legal to breed and trade in captive tigers. European countries consider them less important than tigers born in the wild and receive less protection.
By banning the trade with captive tigers, not only will they no longer be exploited, but it supports the recovery of this endangered species in the wild.
... This is the challenge we as FOUR PAWS started in 2018, asking the European Commission to protect tigers and ban the #RuthlessTrade bit.ly/tiger-trade

HELP US STOP ASIAN ELEPHANT TOURS 🛑
In order to keep the flow of animals needed for the tours, baby Asian elephants 🐘 are snatched from their mothers in the wild. They suffer horrendous abuse in order to ‘break their spirits’ and make them submit to rides and other interactions with tourists.
Whilst these tours are not happening in the UK, they are being promoted here. We can all play a role in helping to stop a part of this this cruelty and call for the end of sales and adv...ertisements of the tours.
Please join us in speaking out for these animals and help us end this #ruthlesstourism.

These cute kitten sisters, Hazel and Diana, were found in front outside the residence of our partner Animal Rescue Cambodia. They had been put in a bag and dumped! Luckily our team was able to catch them and take the two safely to the clinic.
On arrival, they were extremely weak and overheated. At only 3 weeks young, these kittens were already separated from their mother. They cried a lot at the beginning, but thanks to medical care and attention, they became stronger and more independent every day.
They were dewormed, vaccinated, and received formula to grow. After a week, the two were able to go to a foster home. Their foster parent fell so in love with Hazel and Diana that she adopted the two sisters!

Today we celebrate Caruso’s 1st anniversary at LIONSROCK! 🎉
Caruso, the friendly Siberian tiger, was born in a German safari park in 2006, and taken to a circus where he was hand-raised. At the tender age of 2, Caruso ended up at a rescue centre in the Netherlands, which at the time was providing less than appropriate conditions to its animals. At the end of 2013, FOUR PAWS International took over this centre and renamed it @FELIDA Big Cat Centre. Did you know: in the past fe...w years we’ve transferred 15 big cats from FELIDA to LIONSROCK Big Cat Sanctuary & Lodge?
🐅 Caruso is one of the big cats who left their rocky past behind and began a new chapter in a species-appropriate forever home at LIONSROCK. 🍀 He has settled in extremely well at LIONSROCK where he has found refuge in a bigger enclosure next to a few familiar neighbours who came before him from FELIDA. Caruso arrived at LIONSROCK in March 2019, and enjoys watching his neighbours or resting comfortably at one of his favourite spots under the tree in his enclosure.
We are so happy for Caruso! ❤

TWO YEARS AGO ❤
What a difference a day makes… Or in case of 🦁 Ivan-Asen: what a difference two years and a lot of attention, adjustments, visits from our wildlife veterinarians, patience and special care make. Look at our beautiful proud king today. Only two years ago, on this day, Ivan arrived at FELIDA Big Cat Centre after a long journey crossing several borders from Bulgaria to the Netherlands. 🚚 Every kilometer he was leaving his horrible past further behind him. Not tha...t he was aware of it at the time!
And now, two full years further, he looks nothing like the poor creature that arrived here. He looks like a true king. 👑 All thanks to your support. You made it possible to rescue Ivan from a dark cage in an illegal breeding station in Bulgaria. You made it possible for him to be moved to our special care centre FELIDA. You made it possible for him to receive the intensive care that he so desperately needed! And although Ivan will always need specialized (medical) care, we are proud to provide him with a comfortable life, in which he enjoys the sun on his skin, sand under his paws and playtime with his nephews Masoud and Terez! Happy anniversary Ivan, we hope to enjoy your beautiful company for many more years to come! ❤

#Netflix’s shocking ‘Tiger King’ documentary hits close to home as the situation in Europe is not much different.
The documentary-series reveals that there could be more tigers in captivity in the United States than there are in the wild. And that’s only one part of the world. In Europe, there are an estimated 1,600 tigers kept in captivity many of which are commercially abused as seen in the Netflix documentary.
The Netflix documentary #TigerKing highlights the scale in whi...ch tigers are bred for petting, used for selfies and interactions and sold as pets, this is no different from the situation in Europe where they are even exported to Asia where they are further abused or killed for traditional medicines.
The only way to end to end this commercial abuse of tigers in Europe or the United States is to ban the commercial trade and end people profiting from cruelty. FOUR PAWS has worked tirelessly since 2018 to also raise awareness of the sad situation in Europe for tigers and how this industry overlaps with a European illegal tiger trade. This abuse and killing will not end until we end all commercial trade in tigers.
You can play a role in never visiting facilities that offer tiger interactions or breed tigers for commercial gain. You can also sign our petition calling on the European Commission to ban commercial tiger trade ensuring this abuse has no place in Europe: https://help.four-paws.org/en/ban-eu-tige r-trade

Endless waiting times and cruel circumstances at the border 🚚💔.
Since the EU member states have closed their borders to contain the novel coronavirus from spreading further we have received reports of miles of traffic jam at the borders.
Animal transporters are also caught up in these traffic jams. Squeezed together in lorries, chickens, cows and pigs are transported across the EU and to neighbouring countries. They are exposed to immense stress.
... The traffic jams mean additional hours of waiting time for the animals, for example at the German-Polish or Bulgarian-Turkish borders.
The animals are often crowded in the small spaces and in many cases have no access to water. We receive reports from the borders that cows 🐄stuck in the traffic jams are screaming 💔.
Together with other NGOs, FOUR PAWS has sent a letter to the responsible EU Ministers and the EU Commission, calling on them to act now and stop cross-border live animal transports immediately.
The transport of live animals across borders must be stopped for the duration of the corona pandemic‼️. Please help us and sign our petition ➡️http://bit.ly/LiveAnimalTransport
