Cosy and warm dog friendly pub. Lovely home cooked food, large portions! Friendly staff! Wasn't very busy but service was great! Would highly recommend.

Nice characterful place. Sadly on this occasion not for us as not designed for anyone with a disability.

The welcome we recieved on arrival was so warm and friendly you couldn't fault it. Steve (owner and chef) as well as Paul (manager) were so accommodating. We were shown to room 3 which has stunning period arched windows and is finished to such a high standard. They had also gifted us a nice bottled of prosecco in a bucket of ice!!! The rooms (we peaked in a couple of others) are clean and up to a higher standard than you'd expect from a country pub. The bar area and dog friendly restaurant is warm and inviting but you have the beer garden just outside for the sunnier days. Just beyond the beer garden there is a lovely woodland walk and further into the town by the bridge a beautiful riverside walk is also lovely. The pub boasts some lovely cask ales and the food served by chef Steve is again to a very high standard. The hand cut chips are actually awesome and they always have a good selection of specials. We had venison and pheasant on our first night but on our second we couldn't see past the huge burgers!!! Dont get me started on the breakfast which is one of the best cooked breakfasts I've ever eaten....We would definitely stay here again especially with our wee dog and highly recommend it if you like a peaceful country pub setting and want to enjoy the lakes without the huge price tag.

Loved it. Stylish, old school pub with great ales, welcoming atmosphere. Will try their food next time.

We had food from the Fox and Pheasant Inn which was fine, but the service we had was relatively poor. The order was wrong for half of us attending and it took a while to be brought to us. The place wasn't too busy at the time we went. There was no major things wrong with the order, just things like chips came instead of potatoes and the wrong sauce was provided, otherwise the food was good.

Wow!, what amazing Landlord and staff! I Was passing having ran from Settle and had been without water for hours so called in to refill my water bottles. Not only did he fill then but brought me a much needed mug of coffee. It was 10pm at night and he even offered to make me some food.
I will certainly return and be having a meal here. Thanks - (that water and coffee got me to Carlisle!)

Called on our way home from Scotland, had the best Sunday lunch very reasonable priced. Only problem was the size it was massive and we couldn't finish it and had no room for desert.

Stopped in after a 3 mile walk and had a few pints, warming up in front of the open fireplace. Lovely atmosphere, friendly people in the pub and a good pint. The locals are also chatty and friendly.
