We are delighted to welcome experienced rigger, Peter Lillingston, to the Fox’s Rigging team. Peter is a keen and competitive racing sailor, having crewed in the TP52 fleet in the Mediterranean racing circuit and Nautor Swan Regattas on board the Swan 82, Grey Goose. After working as First Mate aboard a number of superyachts, Peter came ashore and trained as a rigger with Allspars Rigging, before moving to Suffolk to be closer to family and he and his partner have just welco...med their first baby. Here on the East Coast, Peter crews on board the classic Stella Class, L’Etoile and brings with him a wealth of racing and cruising experience, which will benefit Fox’s rigging customers.
We are also pleased to welcome Deborah Wood who joins Fox's Marina & Boatyard as our new Marina Administrator and will be the first person many of our visitors will speak to when they call us or visit the Fox's reception desk in our main office. Though relatively new to sailing and, she says, still learning the ropes, Deborah is a very keen sailor and lived on a houseboat for 12 years with her dogs, Alfie and Eric, so she is very familiar with life afloat on the East Coast!

Fox’s is delighted to welcome Oyster 565-03, safely back from her debut at the recent boot Düsseldorf and passage home across the North Sea. This spectacular, new Oyster has already picked up Bluewater Cruiser of the Year 2019 and is now briefly going undercover for bottom and topside finishing prior to being rigged, launched and commissioned here at Fox’s before handover to her lucky owner, who is planning a circumnavigation in his new yacht.

We're delighted to be supporting the Woolverstone Project with their latest fund-raising venture - a Maritime Film Festival - which is being held in the Long Shed in Woodbridge. The film festival takes place between 17-19 January and is a celebration of the best of yachting and maritime films from all eras - from Hollywood blockbusters like Adrift, through to classics like Riddle of the Sands. Other films will include The Mercy, Maiden, Life on the Deben, Turning Tide and Dee...p Water. Each film will be introduced by a short talk and we look forward to welcoming Drummond Challis (the original producer of Riddle of the Sands), one of the original Maiden crew and Rear Admiral Roy Clare who as well as having been Commodore of Dartmouth Naval Training College was also the Head of the National Maritime Museum. Some great talks to support entertaining films. Find out more and book tickets at: http://maritimefilmfestival.co.uk/

Having been laid up ashore at Fox’s for the last season, a substantial refit on the Oyster 72, Koluka, is now well underway in our heated workshops. Refit work includes new teak decks; new batteries; lifting of her engine to allow the inspection of her keel bolts; painting of her carbon rig and a full inspection of her rod rigging before the mast is reassembled.

Work on the refit and significant modifications to the Beneteau First 50, Bam Bam, is progressing well. The new dreadnought bow profile and modified stern sections, incorporating a recessed bathing platform are complete and we are now installing a retractable hydraulic bow sprit assembly, prior to completing post curing, final fairing and topside repainting in stylish ‘Ford Performance Blue’. In addition to this, Fox’s electronics engineers are fitting an all new and comprehensive B&G instrument/plotter package including large format 20/20 displays and the carbon spars are being stripped and repainted in satin black, prior to the installation of a new keel and rudder, re-rigging and commissioning.

Oyster Yacht's latest award winning Oyster 565, hull-03, arrived at Fox's by road from their Hoveton build yard this week for launching. Later this evening, equipped with a dummy rig, the Oyster commissioning team will motor her across a very chilly North Sea in readiness for her debut at boot Düsseldorf in January. Following the show, she will return to Fox's for commissioning and rigging before a spring handover to her lucky owner.

We were pleased to help out two of our local marine businesses today - Burton Waters Boat Sales with a Prestige 520 and Fairline Yachts with a Targa 50, who both needed a lift out whilst the travel hoist at Ipswich Haven is out of action.

Congratulations to all the winners of the British Yachting Awards, presented at The Royal Thames Yacht Club last night. The Fox's team attending were especially pleased to raise a cheer for Oyster Yachts, whose stunning, new Oyster 565, launched, rigged and commissioned at Fox's Marina & Boatyard earlier this year, won the 2019 Luxury Cruiser award.
