Freedom Cycles

Dropped a split link on the lawn. I know where it is. I just can't see it and now I don't care because Freedom cycles was open and I bought a nice new shiny link and a spare.

I found donna so helpful and the shop so wonderfully stocked. I was literally up a creek without a paddle and the shop help me out so much. I used to work in Lichfield and regularly used Freedom cycles. I now work outside the city but still choose to travel from my home in Sutton for the excellent service and advice I always get.

I cannot fault the overall staff friendliness ( five star) but for overall customer service and competence I'm afraid it is a one star.

I have used this shop 3 times but would only recommend if you know the owner. It is my belief and from my experience that if you are 'Joe Public' you are pushed to the back of the queue...

In summary, they are VERY slow to action repairs. I understand they are busy but most recently it took 10 days to replace a rear deraillieur!!!!

It was always me chasing to find out what was happening. Various excuses cited, 'out of stock', 'courier late', 'staff member off work' 'let me check the job sheet and call you back' etc.

Then when I eventually collected my bike... the very next day the chain snapped!!! Thankfully I had a lucky escape.

The owner apologised and said "a chain link can break anytime" on the basis it was the day after he worked on my bike and it had never happened before during 15,000 miles of cycling ...I find that very strange.

Also my bike was meant to undergo running repairs which never happened during the 10 days of having my bike even though I was informed that '"my bike is trashed".

Finally my wheel hub needs replacing after "a crack was located on the hub". Whilst I have no evidence of negligence I would respect the owner more if he had just been honest with me and informed me that he had struggled to remove the cassette (incidentally he fitted it during my 2nd visit in February 2016)

When I asked about the work not carried out, I was informed that my requirements 'were not on the job sheet!!!!'.

Simply unnaceptable service. Incidentally I took my bike to a competitor to get all the 'unfinished' work completed and collected NEXT DAY!!!

You pay your money and make your own choice, I know where I'll be going next time.

Extremely friendly people, always worth popping for a quick chat. Excellent service, competively priced. The shop does a lot to promote cycling in Lichfield.
