Along with many local residents, I attended the recent public consultation in regards to the plans to build a new all-through school for over 1300 children on the site currently occupied by St Mark’s CofE Primary School.

Following a recent street audit throughout the ward by our Freemantle team, we have reported numerous incidents of fly-tipping and managed to help some lonely shopping trolleys make their way home. If you have any particular areas of concern please get in touch and we will report them to the council on your behalf.

It was a pleasure to donate some boxing equipment to Biddz Boxing on behalf of Freemantle Liberal Democrats last week. This is a fantastic community project and I can't praise the work Shane and his team have done highly enough building up this initiative. Every time I have attended, the gym is buzzing with activity especially with young kids through to teenagers. The gym gives these youngsters somewhere to go after school which keeps them out of trouble and gives them focus and great sense of achievement as their skills progress. Everyone is welcome down the gym and Shane's passionate enthusiasm is infectious.Myself and Freemantle Lib Dems will continue to support this project and their search for a new, larger more capable venue to host this great community asset and allow it to continue its growth.

To those enjoying their gardens or balconies during the warm weather in Shirley and Freemantle. Please look skywards and you shouldn’t fail to notice swifts swooping and feeding on the plethora of flying insects we are seemingly inundated with. The population of swifts in has declined by 50% in the last 22 years, mainly due to loss of nesting areas. Southampton, particularly the Shirley and Freemantle area have managed to buck this trend. This is down to the excellent work done by the local branch of https://www.hampshireswifts.co.uk. They supplied and fitted a nesting box which I was pleased to add to my house earlier this week, all for £25. I would recommend anyone else interested in helping these beautiful birds to get in touch!

Freemantle Lake Park Get Together today from 1pm. Lots to see and do in the sunshine. The bunting looks expertly erected, if I do say so myself!
