Many of us have fantastic memories that started in a park – whether it’s flying a kite with our grandads, time spent with friends, teaching our own children to walk, or a hundred other things – parks bring people together.
That’s why Love Parks Week (13-22 July) – is inviting everyone to get down to their local park or green space and celebrate all the amazing things that ‘started in a park’.

Much ado about litter…
37 – ✒️The number of plays written by William Shakespeare 37 – 🌡️ The normal human body temperature 37 – 🚯 The number of Fixed Penalty Notices issued for littering at Frensham Great Pond and Common last weekend.
... Don’t let your day out turn into a drama – pick up your litter, not a £100 fine.

When is a mining bee not a mining bee? When it’s hunting bees! This slow motion video shows a Bee Wolf - a type of wasp which hunts down bees to stock its subterranean burrows.
The wasp can lay up to around 30 eggs in these burrows and will keep multiple bees in each nursery chamber.
It may be a wasp, but it needs to be a busy bee to keep up that pace!

Please be aware that due to high levels of blue-green algae, visitors and their dogs are advised to stay out of the big pond and follow the advice on signs at the site.
Visitors can still enjoy the site and its facilities, which remains open as usual.
Contact with water containing high levels of blue-green algae can cause illness in humans, including skin irritation. Swallowing the water or algal scum can cause vomiting, diarrhoea, fever, and pains in muscles or joints. The ...algae can be toxic to dogs so please keep them out of the water.
If you have been in contact with the water at the pond you should wash your hands well before eating, drinking or smoking. Shower as soon as you can after exiting the water. If you have any signs of skin rash, stomach pains or vomiting after being in the water please seek medical advice.
We will continue to monitor the levels of blue-green algae and will let you know as soon as it’s safe to enter the water at the big pond.
Thank you for your co-operation.

Please remember to take your belongings home after a visit to Frensham Great Pond.
This was hidden in the sand and part of it became embedded in a child’s wrist while they were digging. Luckily no worse than a surface wound dealt with by first aid but this clearly could have been a lot worse for our visitor.

Perfect place to go with kids. Very big car park and easy acces to lido. We went on bank holiday and it was very busy but still much less overcrowded then any lido in London! We'll definitely come back in a heartbeat on a sunny days:)

My children and grandchildren prefer this to the seaside. In fact my daughter used to call it the seaside without seaweed. Over the years it has improved, the sandy beach area is ideal for small children, the water is shallow and has been roped off to keep it safe. Lovely Ice cream available at the cafe (£2 a cornet) and toilet facilities. £4 to park all day seems good value to me, but I think it is free on week days. All you need is sunshine.

User

Lovely place to visit went with my husband and we had a very nice snack at the little pond cafe then a nice stroll round the pond, wasn't very busy but did go during the week can imagine it being very busy at the weekend.

User

Lovely place had a fantastic day even though it was busy there was room for everyone. Will definitely be going back

User

Just love the place. Very nice atmosphere..

User

Great place, just wish people would take their rubbish with them after.

User

Great little get away that only takes me 40 mins to drive instead of 1.5 hrs to the beach. Nice Welsh guy runs the cafe, toilets, clean, lovely countryside, free on weekdays, just add sunshine for great day out ☀️⛱🏖😁

User

Brilliant place to go sand and water what more do you need and free parking as well on week days only which is a bonus and it was the first time l ever been there

User

Brilliant 5 hours spent here today. Did not hear a peep from my 3 boys other than to have their lunch. Luckily the water quality was excellent today so they had a great time splashing about and we didn't have to worry about waves like the beach. Can't wait to go back. The boys didn't want to leave!

User

Best place. Better than any beach on south east coast

User

Beautiful place for walks with the dog and kids. Lovely little cafe on site too, with pretty reasonable prices for coffees and ice cream!

User

An amazing find, never knew this existed! Just off the A31, Frensham Great Pond has a good sized car park, toilets, a snack bar that does a reasonable range of food and icecream. The lake is safe with a lovely sandy beach, sailing and plenty of walks. There is also a Best Western Hotel at the far end of the lake. Further up the road is another lake with a smaller beach and great walks. Altogether, a Lovely day out in the Surrey Hills.

User

Absolutely stunning place! I like to go in the week with the littlens where its not so busy and free parking which is a bonus! The kids absolutely love it nice shallow warm water if the sunshine is out beautiful scenery and wildlife great place for them to burn off some energy

User

Absolutely lovely and a perfect place to go, without the long trip to the sea when you live in Bucks! Super sand, lovely walk and a great little snack shack - already planning the net trip!

User

1st time i have been. Had a lovely time lso no more stuck in traffic to Bournemouth. Lovely place to visit went with my husband and we had a very nice snack at the little pond cafe then a nice stroll round the pond, was very busy. Dog loved playing in the pond.

User

Lovely day out when the drive to the real beach is a bit daunting. Only spoilt by the grumpy and frankly rude old bloke in the shop. He could do with some customer service training.

User

It was a lovely place to go. Very busy. Need someone to line cars up as there were cars leaving big gaps which if the next car moved along you could get another one in. Disabled parking I noticed not one of the cars had there blue badge up we have a blue badge and couldn't find a space. Next I thought on the website it said no inflatables if any kind there were loads of them.

User

Absolutely beautiful place but the one toilet for all & people parking on the tight narrow road is terrible! So much land could be opened up! There was cars being damaged and arguments starting! Surely, things should be put in place if you know it's going to be busy?
