If you haven't already heard we made a whooping £2400 for the Infants and £1900 for the Juniors at Saturday's Netley Abbey Community Fayre - this WILL make a difference to all of the children who attend both schools.
A few thank you's to the people who helped us to achieve this -
Firstly, the Community Fayre team who have been plotting and planning since January - Kat, Katharine, Hayley, Chrissie, Katie, Katie, Lisa, Lisa, Cathy, Ella, Catherine, Ali, Simon and Marie (as you... can probably tell, it did get confusing when someone shouted Kat, Katie or Cath!)
Thank you to the many volunteers who offered to help us set up, run a stall, pack away - without your help, there simply would be no fayre. We hope you enjoyed yourselves.
Mrs Head, Mrs Williams, Mrs Davison, Mrs Vidler, Ms Chapman, Mr Cole and all of the staff from both schools who came along and lent a hand - we know it's your day off, but we also know the children love seeing their teacher's 'out of hours' - thank you!
Thank you to Mark and Hound Parish Council, Gaff Rigger, The Ketch Rigger, Hound Nurseries (Hamble Lane), Hunters Estate Agents, Netley Abbey, The Jolly Friar, Roll Call, Netley Post Office, The Cottage Pub - who all lent / gave us items that we needed!
Our wonderful entertainment (who can all be booked for events) was provided by the Riverside Concert Band, Eva Iglesias and the students of Julie's Dance Studio. They were all amazing.
Thanks to all of the village organisations and independent traders who came along, took a pitch and shared their wares with our visitors. You make our event even more colourful and we thank you for that.
Thanks to all of the businesses and individuals who donated a prize to our raffle, your donation made a difference in the amount of tickets we sold this year.
And finally thanks to all of the parents who donated to the tombola, cake stall, bottle stall and to EVERYONE in our community who came along, dug deep and we hope enjoyed their afternoon at the fayre.
For those who aren't aware, the committee for both The Friends of Netley Abbey Junior School and Friends of Netley Abbey Infant School will be handing over the baton to new committees soon.
On a personal note, I have loved my time as part of the Friends - yes it's a juggle with a family, work and other commitments - but if I can make a difference not only to my own children's time at school, but to other children and the community we live in, then I believe that's worth a few hours a month.
If you can spare a few hours, then do get in touch, whether it's as part of the committee or part of next year's team for the community fayre or one of the shops - we'd love to welcome you. Joining the Friends has given me friends for life, a sense of achievement and a heart that swells with pride when we work together and achieve success.
Thank you for reading Marie - chair of FONAIS.

Did you enjoy yesterday’s fayre? We truly hope so - did you know that it’s organised by a group of volunteers called the Friends? We all have families, jobs and other responsibilities - but we work together so that an hour here and there enables us to gain knowledge and experience in running events like the Fayre, the school shops, discos etc etc. Want to know more? Then please get in touch and see how YOU can make a difference.

WOW! What a day - whilst we wait for the counting to finish, we want to say a huge thank you to all of our wonderful volunteers who made the day run so smoothly and all the independent businesses and organisations that came and ran a stall to entertain our guests. This year we had some amazing entertainment, a huge thanks to the wonderful Eva Iglesias, The Riverside Concert Band and the students from Julie's Dance Studio (The DJ was pretty cool too!! 😎 😉) Please let us know what you enjoyed the most and maybe we can do it all again next year!
