Frome Fire Cadets Description

Our free nationally recognised programme is a great way for young people to have fun, make friends, gain a qualification and develop their skills and confidence.

Devon and Somerset Fire Cadets is a uniformed youth programme open to young people between the ages of 13 and 17. The programme runs over a full school year, during term time only. Our Cadets learn important skills such as team building, leadership and communication. As well problem solving and communication alongside enhanced life skills to support personal awareness and development, as well as taking part in social actions within their communities.

The Cadets meet once a week, avoiding school holidays, for a 2 hour session. They attend one of our Fire Cadet Stations to take part in learning about firefighter activities, which includes both theory and exciting practical sessions. The students are provided with uniform and full personal protective equipment (PPE) for practical drills.
