From the left of picture we have Matthew Kennedy, Rosie Patterson, Jesssica Kennedy and Emily Patterson standing on the right. JUNE 6TH 1944 is a date memorably etched in many mind's. As we know, it was the day allied troops landed on the coast of Normandy to start the campaign to liberate Europe and give us the freedom we all enjoy today.
What many people will not know is that fish and chips also played their part during the war.
... Fish and chips were excluded from rationing in both WW I and WW II and Winston Churchill referred to them as "the good companions".
It's said that many troops actually had fish and chips before embarking on their brave and historical journey to Normandy.
During the actual D Day landings, the British soldiers would identify one another in poor visibility by calling out the word "fish". The response signifying an ally, was "chips"
So it's probably no coincidence that National Fish & Chip day is around about the same time and this year it is tomorrow, Friday 7th June.
So come and join us for the nation's favourite, 'Traditional Fish & Chips'
As our small token of thanks to all those involved in conflicts on our behalf we will be donating 10% of all our regular fish and chip sales on National Fish and Chip day to the Royal British Legion charity. 🐟🐟

Long week, ended with a long Saturday, then a long drive early Sunday to Edinburgh for the Colbeck Fish & Chip trade fair... it would be rude not to have a LONG drink after all that..

User

One of our customers has left their car key in the shop at lunchtime. If anyone knows who it is can they let them know we have the key safe. We will hand key back when car type is confirmed. 🐟🐟
