I ordered a bike in July 2017, but it was never delivered. Took two months to get a refund.

A sorry tale.
I ordered a bike and was promised it in "a couple of weeks".
When I had heard nothing I had to repeatedly telephone to chase up the order despite being told on a number of occasions that someone would call me back.
After lame excuse after lame excuse the bike finally arrived - no apology for the weeks of delay.
Took the bike back for its service at the arranged time. Lo and behold it wasn't ready - and in fact they hadn't even started the service - when I returned to collect it.
Appalling service !

This is my regular bike shop as the staff actually have a sense of humour, something that is seriously lacking in many establishments. Excellent, relaxed service and very knowledgeable. They have helped me out on many occasions and even deliver to my door when I have ordered parts in that were not in stock.
Thoroughly recommended especially if you like relaxed with an active humour bone in the body!

Shocking 'service '! Three weeks after dropping my daughter's bike off for a couple of minor repairs we have had to return 3 times to see what was going on having had no information from them at all despite reassurances they would ring us. Final straw came today when we went to pick it up having been told it would be ready last Tues to find that neither repair had been completed. Absolutely useless. Finally decided to bring the bike home and 3 weeks later it's in exactly the same state it was before we took it to them. Complete and utter waste of time.

Lamentable tale. A simple job gone wrong. Starring: Poor Workmanship, Lousy Parts, Problems & Lies and Introducing Deplorable Service. READ before parting with your well earned money here. I wish I’d seen Daryl Knight's review first - couldn't agree more. THEIR MANY APOLOGIES SEEM SINCERE BUT AVOID AT ALL COSTS - THEY DON’T GIVE A MONKEYS ABOUT THE CUSTOMER.

Bike: Classic Raleigh Racer (Reynolds 501) My Pride & Joy – love it! Repair Required: Front Derailleur Replacement – original part broke eventually (they don’t make ‘em like that any more.)

In For Repair: 1st week of May 2016. After 2.5 weeks got a call from lady at the shop - told her I would collect it the next week. Despite this I got a brusque phone call from some guy to tell me they needed the space. Could I get down as soon as to collect? I repeated the same message given to the lady I had spoken to previously.

Got a lift to the shop and went in to get my bike. Repair done was to the bottom bracket! Guy there said it still made a noise when peddled. Why? They had removed a perfectly good bottom bracket and not repaired the actual fault. After trying to blame each other for the repair, they then proceeded to blame it on the mother-in-law who wasn't there to defend herself. Nice guys.

They told me that they wouldn't charge me for the new bottom bracket! Comedy act too! It wasn't funny then and it still isn't funny now - I had a 2 mile walk back.

They offered to rectify the situation - charged me £20 up front. Yes I paid it - my fault I know. They told me that they would ring in a few days - even offered to deliver the bike so as not to put me out. I believed them. They didn’t ring me back and they didn’t deliver my bike.

July - I returned to said shop after calling them. Yes, I had to call them. They told me they had tried to contact me. They couldn’t produce my telephone number then tried to make excuses. Finally admitted my contact details had been lost!

I was just glad to get my bike back – I turned the pedals with my hand! It made one hell of a racket because the front derailleur was rubbing on the chain! Required adjustment. Now, wouldn't you have thought this was part of the repair job? Needless to say I was told it had been adjusted properly and they couldn’t understand what had happened! Some experts!

They took to repairing it right there in front of me but the part they had fitted fell to pieces. You couldn't make this stuff up! I surmised that maybe these guys were actually doing the work of two other men: Laurel and Hardy. It felt like it!

They took my phone details - again. I left - annoyed but decided to work with them. Told me they would ring the next day and drop off my bicycle. They didn’t. I should have spotted they were telling porkies – their lips were moving.

13/10 - Had enough so phoned the shop. Some apologetic adolescent offered to take my number and get back to me! Laughable - they had failed in all their previous attempts to do the same.

14/10 - Went into the shop - received yet another apology – They had got my phone number wrong yet again! How hard can it be? It ain't rocket science is it?

5 month wait due to incompetence. £20 for a repair paid BEFORE the work was done – at their request. Cheap part used for the £20 repair – can be sourced online for £8.33 ex VAT! Lied to – to avoid taking responsibility for mistakes made. Lack of professionalism. Promises that were consistently broken. Evidence of poor workmanship & poor quality parts. What if it had been brake blocks on a child's bike!

Worst of all – PAINTWORK DAMAGE on the seat down tube – either made during the repair or whilst the bicycle was in the shop’s care. Never mentioned to me. My pride and joy - discovered when I got the bike home. Disgraceful and deceitful – worse than incompetence. Good job I took a photo of my bike BEFORE it went in for repair. Following up on this.

Don’t trust their repair. Will get a competent bike mech' to check their work – more expense. AVOID.
