About Funeral Nation - For A Dead Generation

Funeral Nation is a Goth night which runs once a month in Birmingham, West Midlands, UK.

Funeral Nation - For A Dead Generation Description

Playing all your favorite Gothic, Industrial, EBM, 80's Electro, Cyber & Steam music, in a wonderful Steampunk bar with a great atmosphere.

After many years laid to rest, Funeral Nation has been revived from the grave, thanks to those lovely people at COGS, Steampunk Bar, in Birmingham. Thank you for giving the night a chance and believing in it.

Funeral Nation's History:

Funeral Nation began back in 2003, after a discussion with my good friend Katie. She said that our local area had nothing to offer the Goth scene as people had to travel outside the town for a dark night out. She also knew my past DJ experience, and the contact I have with various bands, so we decided to get our heads together and start this little project.

Having use of one of England's oldest running live venues, JB's Nightclub, it was a great opportunity to host bands on these nights also. Some of these included: KMFDM, Paradise Lost, Killing Miranda, Devilish Presley, Abigails Mercy, Libitina and many, many more.

The night used to run on the last Sunday of the month from 9pm-12am, but sometimes we had midweek gigs which involved some of the bigger named bands.

Usually a lock in afterwards was always had with many of the regulars, this always involved use of the Funeral Nation coffin, where someone had to do the "Coffin Walk Challenge", this involved someone getting inside it, and then trusting the bearers to carry them up a flight of stairs towards where the coffin was kept in storage. . . it never failed to amuse.

Unfortunately, back in 2011, the JB's venue went into administration and the place was forced to close down. This was gutting for the local community, a wonderful venue where people came together for the love of music was lost. Thus Funeral Nation was retired, until now.
