About Gadsby Wicks Solicitors

Gadsby Wicks Solicitors are true specialists in medical negligence who use our legal expertise and experience to help patients and their families.

Gadsby Wicks Solicitors Description

At Gadsby Wicks, we only represent people who have suffered through medical negligence. Since 1993, we have achieved millions of pounds each year in compensation for our clients, many of whom have been severely disabled.

Where possible, we also aim to get an explanation for what happened to cause the accident, along with an apology. This is often extremely important for families who are trying to come to terms with the consequences. It can also encourage change to reduce the possibility of the mistake happening again to someone else.

We are experts in handling medical negligence claims, including harm caused by a mishandled birth, surgical errors and complications arising from misdiagnosis and delayed treatment and offer our No Win No Fee guarantee to help you fund your case, whatever your financial circumstances.

Our No Win No Fee Guarantee
• Nothing to pay upfront
• Nothing to pay throughout the case
• Nothing to pay if you lose
• No hidden charges

Our lawyers are widely regarded as being amongst the best in their field. Based in Chelmsford, Essex, we primarily handle claims throughout Essex, East Anglia and the South-East as well as the rest of England and Wales.

If you, or a loved one, have been injured as a result of your medical treatment, please talk to us in confidence to see if you may have a claim. Call us on freephone 0800 321 3112 or visit our website.

Why should you choose a legal expert to handle your medical negligence claim? Because they have the experience and knowledge to make sure you don’t settle for less than you are entitled to. Tami Frankel of Gadsby Wicks shares her views following a recent ruling in the High Court, highlighting the dangers of using an unqualified adviser.
Paul Wright became permanently disabled after a ’never event’ at Basildon and Thurrock University Hospital NHS Trust in 2004. Thinking he co...uld not afford a lawyer, Mr Wright went to a firm in Romford who offered ‘affordable legal advice’ only to miss out on substantial damages and end up with a bill to pay towards the hospital’s legal costs. His adviser had a Law Degree but no legal training. 15 years on, after having sued the firm - Mr Wright has finally been awarded the compensation he should have been due, along with the sum to cover the legal costs of the hospital.
At Gadsby Wicks, we believe everyone should have access to justice regardless of their financial situation. Our No Win No Fee Guarantee, means:
- Nothing to pay upfront - Nothing to pay throughout the case - Nothing to pay if you lose

Personal stories from the Gadsby Wicks Clinical Negligence Casebook – man dies after misdiagnosis of tear in his aorta
When Tom Bailey started to experience severe chest pains in the middle of the night, his wife took him to hospital to get checked out. After being examined in A&E, he was diagnosed with gastroenteritis, vertigo and a urinary tract infection and sent home. He was readmitted to hospital after a few hours and diagnosed with appendicitis. After a four days of tes...ts, he was sent home again but suffered a heart attack a few days later and sadly died. It was found that he had a tear in his aorta and this had led to his cardiac arrest. It had been missed by the medics who had examined him.
Gillian Gadsby made a medical negligence claim on behalf of Mr Bailey’s family and Mrs Bailey agreed to settle the claim for £165,000 in compensation.

The Mirena Coil is well-known to many women. It is an Intra Uterine Device (known as an IUD or coil) used for contraceptive purposes. It requires a qualified health professional to insert it during a short procedure. For the vast majority, the experience is straightforward. However, it is important that women get checked thoroughly if they have any subsequent pain or side effects after it has been fitted.
When Ms Green was fitted with her Mirena coil, she developed electric s...hock type pain in her lower abdomen. After a scan, the coil was removed and replaced with a second one. This also had to be removed but she continued to suffer from pain. She had further surgery, which found that threads of the IUD had adhered to her bowel. We helped her to make a medical negligence claim and she settled for £30,000 compensation.

Viewers in the ITV East Anglia region will see Gadsby Wicks TV ad on screens again in March 2019. Featuring Holly Greenhow (13) - a model and actress who herself has Cerebral Palsy - the advert highlights how financial compensation can help families who have experienced the consequences of a mishandled birth.
“We were delighted when Holly auditioned for the part of ‘Hannah’ in our advertising campaign,” says Gillian Gadsby, Managing Partner and co-founder of Gadsby Wicks Soli...citors. “She impressed everyone with her professionalism, her confidence and her ‘can do’ attitude throughout the shoot.”
The advert was filmed in Jephson Gardens, Leamington Spa and produced by Koala, a TV and video production company with offices in Birmingham, Manchester and London.

On today, World Sepsis Day, we are reminded how important it is to be aware that sepsis can be potentially fatal.
Early diagnosis and treatment of sepsis is essential as the chances of survival are reduced considerably for each hour that it goes untreated. The Brereton family tragically lost their baby son Leon to sepsis at 4 days old.
