Yesterday I took my son and niece to see Mrs

Claus' kitchen at the Gala theatre and it was absolutely brilliant ! They loved the interaction from the cast answering questions and feeling like they were really part of the story . It was magical , funny and really got us in the Christmas spirit ! Well done on a lovely kiddies piece of theatre , very talented ! Recommend it completely for all little ones

User

Went to the Pantomime this year after having our first experience of what the Gala had to offer in 2016.

It was fantastic - even topped last year’s! Funny, family-friendly and featured performers who capture the true meaning of this Christmas tradition. Well done to all those involved. You’ve done yourselves so proud :)

User

Well what can i say myself my husband our 8 yr old and 10 month old daughters went to see Robinson Crusoe and it was fantastic VERY entertaining for ALL ages plenty of adult jokes to keep dad happy but not to crude for my 8 nearly 9 yr old to understand or even ask about

plenty of music and singing for baby to dance to she loved Pecky the parrot and Billy though did get a bit restless as it was nap time but nothing a cuddle a bottle and a nap didn't sort the staff were very accommodating when I went to stand with baby most places make you leave n not stand in the isles so thankyou x x great way to finish off our family festivities

We attended the comedy club on Sun eve. What a fantastic night. Don't think I've laughed so much in ages. The compare and the 3 comedians were first class. Only gripe was trying to book tickets. Your policy on not being able to book 2 seats where there are 3 spare seats in a row isn't great guys and will put some people off booking. But that said we had a fabulous eve.

User

Took my 2 7year olds to see Robinson Crusoe, we loved it! , the cast are great ; loved Robinsons brother especially, kids loved it when he slipped in a crafty dab! The younger cast members are also fantastic, make sure you watch the youngest boy dance , his face says it all ! Honestly was a good show, be warned you may get wet, we did !

User

Lovely friendly staff, Great theatre, fantastic show.

User

I took my daughter to see Mrs Claus kitchen on Sunday, we had a truly magical experience from start to finish!! My little one is 3 and wasn’t sure she would sit but it wasn’t like that at all, the children all joined in dancing and singing!! Mrs Claus and widget were fantastic with the children!! Such a good idea for the under 5s, we will be going back to see it again hopefully!

User

I took my 4 year old daughter and 2 year old nephew to see Mrs Clauses Kitchen yesterday and I can describe it as no more than truly magical.

The children loved it from start to finish and participated throughout. My daughter especially loved the snow!

My nephew loved it so much his mum had booked to take him again before Christmas!

Well done to the team at the gala for another fantastic production!

User

I saw the show The Addams Family musical last night performed by the Durham Gala Theatre Stage School which my nephew took part in. It was a fantastic show, and you could see how much hard work everyone involved had put in to it. Well done to you all.

User

I attended the Tony Robinson talk and thoroughly enjoyed myself. The bar area was just a nice size with plenty of seating. The seating in the theatre was extremely comfortable with plenty of leg room and even though I was in row V in the circle the view was great

User

First time at the Gala Theatre yesterday with my daughter and youngest son. we had a lovely time. Staff were very welcoming and polite. Service with a smile at the box office. The man who checked tickets in the theatre was absolutely lovely - helped with my pram and couldnt of been more kind or helpful.

Lovely theatre- will visit again.

The panto was fab - even my 7 month old little one enjoyed himself - cant wait to visit again with the all my family

User

Fab. Went to the Robinson Crusoe panto on Thursday with my sons ; although being in the 2nd row didnt do my chest any good with the excessive smoke; we had a great time. .

User

Been to see Robinson cruso tonight with my 12yr old nephew n my 2 sons age 7 and 2. We all absolutely loved it. My youngest sat and never moved off his seat. We all laughed from start to finish. Thank you so much and keep up the good work xx

User

A large group of us visited last night to watch Sex in the City. It was brilliant. We loved it and All had a good giggle reminiscing at the series and characters. More shows like this please.

User

Visited on Sunday afternoon with our two year old grand daughter who loved Mrs Claus Kitchen, she was totally taken in by it and enjoyed the singing. The only down side was that at the end she was expecting to see Santa and he didn’t appear which was a shame. All of the children were given a sticker as they left and if Santa had handed them out it would have finished the experience in a wonderful way for the little ones. The seating was very uncomfortable (sat on the floor) but as the show only lasted 30 mins it was fine, and being close to the performance was great for joining in with the actions. Good value for the price paid for tickets

User

Went to see Mrs. Claus kitchen with my daughter and granddaughter. The show itself was lovely but very disappointed it only lasted about half an hour. We were just getting into it and thought it was the break but then it was over. Pleased there were a few seats to sit on as there was no way I could sit on the floor! The kids were told don’t forget your present on the way out - a sticker! They asked for you not to take photos as there would be a chance afterwards. We felt hurried out after the show and my granddaughter was not allowed to sit on the rocking chair for a photo an assistant pulled her off. A long journey to see it for such a short time

User

Phoned today to find out when cinema will be screening new Mission Impossible film. Told the Gala won't be screening one of the biggest summer films of this year! Very disappointing. The cinema will suffer enough when the new Odeon opens shortly in Durham.

The large screen at the Gala is just about adequate and the small screen not worth bothering with. Not offering the most popular new releases makes it even less competitive. Hopeless!

User

I went to the gala to watch the pantomime Robinson Crusoe. I was disappointed with the performance as I found the jokes and little innuendos the actors used offensive, I am aware that these naughty and "cheeky" jokes are supposed to keep parents entertained while watching it with their children however I think these crude and sexually based jokes are too much for the young children watching. Some children are as young as 4 and they will take in these so called jokes subconsciously. I understand the older generations need to laugh too but can parents not sit for a few hours without jokes of a unprovoked sexual nature? There was a character named Perkins that was a woman dressed as a man, she did this because that's the only way she could get on the boat, isn't that sending signals to female children that they need to be boys to get the so called "manly" jobs in life. Yes I may be going overboard here but i care about children take in without other adults realising. There was also a joke about the character Perkins bending over and the "baddy pirate insinuating getting an erection over her which I think personally is too mature for the based audience. The actors were wonderful obviously they worked very hard to make the performance enjoyable however I feel the writers need to seriously change some things. In the future if a pantomime has this many innapropriate jokes in it I won't be taking my children. Let them stay children as long as they can. Well done to the actors nonetheless

User

Just tried to book tickets for Sunday's Comedy Store show, there are dozens of seats left but only in groups of three. Apparently, I can't book 2 seats because they're only available to groups of three or singles. So inevitably, they're going to end up with dozens of empty seats because of this nonsensical process, hoping to get threes or singles instead of filling the seats that are available. Well done, we are now off to Newcastle instead where their comedy clubs don't have such pointless rules and I'm not sure I'll bother coming back.
