The cognoscenti around Marylebone High Street, keen on cream cakes and pastries, know Galleria well. After all, owning partner, Bahar Bidarbakht, is a noted dab hand at making them. But not everyone’s aware that what started off as a simple, family run coffee shop, has developed into a fully licensed restaurant now.

Since Bahar has been born and raised in Iran, it’s no surprise that the speciality dishes here are Persian, although Bahar has been quick to adapt her cooking to European-style dishes as well. The couple shop for the fresh ingredients themselves, and Bahar cooks at least three different home made style Persian specialities every day for £7-£12. Describing Iranian cuisine, the Bidarbakhts say it involves “many tastes”, but is never too heavy or spicy, and is most frequently accompanied by rice that is steamed to make it extra light, different from Indian or chinese style.
