Did you know that Garston Veterinary Group is a training practice?
Every spare moment for our student nurses is an opportunity to practice with their Clinical Coaches for their impending OSCEs.
An Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE) is designed to test clinical performance and competence in skills that are deemed essential for a day-one competent Veterinary Nurse.... Along with the written examinations, OSCEs are used to confirm the students knowledge and skill prior to finally being awarded their RVN qualification.

Naughty Albert’s helped himself to some grapes, so although he feels absolutely fine, we’re keeping him in for 48 hours of intravenous fluids as a precaution.
Did you know that in a small number of dogs consuming just a tiny amount of grapes or raisins could cause kidney failure?

Our Trowbridge team had a lovely visit from Yogi the Coton Du Tulear.
The breed is named after the city of Tuléar in Madagascar and for its cotton-like coat. Our records confirm that with only 10 adult Coton Du Tulears registered with us, they are still quite rare in the U.K
What a sweetie he is! 💙

Poor Benji presented us with a Christmas classic . .
He decided to help himself to 4 boxes of Heroes and Roses, plus unwrap a few other Christmas presents at home too! Thankfully, his owner rushed him into us and we were able to make him vomit before it became dangerous.
... Hope you feel better soon Benji 💚

We've been registered with Garstons for the last 14 years. As well as routine appointments for vaccinations we've needed to use the out of hours service and also needed emergency appointments. Each and every time our three dogs have never received anything less than excellent care from every member of staff we've seen. We know our dogs are in the very best hands with Garstons and we wouldn't go anywhere else.

User

We used Garston Vets for our Rottweiler Megan's entire life, from her first jabs to her very last injection. When it was discovered she had inoperable cancer, the treatment and care she received was top class and we couldn't of asked for anymore All the Vets, nurses and reception staff were all excellent. Megan also gave blood twice and managed to save one poorly dog's life and Garston kept us informed every step of the way. If we were ever to get another pet, Garston Vets would be our first choice everytime

We relocated to the area last summer and registered our two cats with Garston. One of our cats has a very rare blood condition which means she has to have regular blood tests and close monitoring. She and her sister have always been treated with kindness, dignity and respect, by very knowledgeable, caring and highly experienced vets and nurses. We have dealt mainly with Andy Woodward and Sian Naylor, both of whom we have every confidence in and consider ourselves fortunate to have found such good vets. It is easy to make an appointment at any of the surgeries, all of which have ample parking and a good range of opening hours. We have mainly visited the Westbury and Warminster surgeries, both of which are modern and immaculately clean (very important). There is also the reassurance of 24/7 cover. So far we cannot fault Garston Veterinary Group.

User

We have two cats and a dog - all of whom are cared for by Garstons. They have always been very caring and when we had to have a pet PTS they where truly amazing. All the staff where incredibly compassionate and made a difficult day, a lot better. I will always be grateful to them for going the extra mile. Occasionally there is the odd admin mistake, which they always deal with fairly. Thank you.

User

We have always used Garston Vets and cannot rate them highly enough. My gorgeous cat Shadow got put to sleep about 3 and a half years ago at the ripe old age of 22 💕 and he was at Garston his whole life. We now have our beautiful labrador Honey who actually loves going to the vets!! She is super bouncy and the staff manage her perfectly! The staff are fantastic and the atmosphere in the Frome surgery has really put all my pets at ease. Thank you Garston Vets!!

User

The staff are lovely, and I managed to get a same day appointment after work at the Frome branch. I am more than impressed and so happy to have found such great, caring vets!

User

Thank you so much for answering my call on Friday night on your out of hours line. You weren’t my vets at the time but when mine weren’t answering you did. Although we lost our dear little dog, I just wanted to say thank you so much for being there on the other end of the phone. I will be moving our other two dogs over in the next few weeks so that you will always be our first port of call.

User

So yesterday I left for maternity leave, I would like to express my graduate for Garston not only as a place of work but for the high level of care you provide to my own animals and all our clients animals, from an insiders point of view, you never fail to go that extra mile for your patients! Keep up the good work!

User

Nothing but praise for all of the surgeries. We’ve had excellent care for all of our dogs and cats over the past 18 years, including one vet handling the epilepsy in one dog and another handling the hip dysplasia in another dog. We have a very nervous rescue and he’s handled confidently but sensitively and I trust Garstons implicitly.

User

My family have been with Garstons since we moved to the area over 10 years ago. Unfortunately, 5 months ago we lost our cat, Bagpuss. The entire team were so good with him and us, in letting us stay after closing time, whilst we could say our goodbyes. Andy Woodward was the vet who helped my cat in his final day. He was so kind, gentle and explained everything to us and allowed us as much time as needed. He really was brilliant and I can’t thank Garstons enough. We continue to use them for our dog and will be using Garstons for any future pets we may have.

My cat Marley was knocked down about 9 months ago.......Garston vets is where the couple that had hit him had taken him.......I came home and had a phone message from them......I thought but they're not my vets......anyway I phone the number they left for me.......spoke to someone and they gentle and kindly informed me my Marley had been knocked down and had died but this lovely couple had brought him down to them......he had a chip.......they told me as soon as I was ready to go down to them.......I rang the next morning and said I was coming down......they asked me if I wanted his collar which I said yes too.......I went down they had the collar ready for me......didn't think I should see him......just remember him as he was........nice way to put it......I thought........I did have to pay to have him cremated.......which I understand.

Two weeks later I had a letter though the post......I opened it and inside was a lovely card with paw prints on it and a forget me not seed.........I really appreciated that.........they were very caring and understanding.......I was so grateful to them.......thank you Garston staff and the couple that took my Marley there xx

My beautiful girl had a whole day at the vets! She’s 11 and my total world!

She hates being left and I hate leaving her(in-fact I always leave crying)

I just wanted to thank Zoe and her team for taking great care of her! Regular updates were so appreciated!

She’s home now , Doppy but ok!

Thankyou Garston ..... I always know she’s in safe hands!!

User

Me and my partner have brought in all our animals in for about 4 years now and simply can not fault any of the team. We had our little girl ruby brought as an emergency in last year she didn’t survive after only being there for less than 2 hours and they called us as soon as they knew she wouldn’t make it and because of them we were able to say our goodbyes to her and knew we were not in the right mind to sort anything out there and then just simply signed some bits of paperwork and dealt with our insurance company without having to go through us after the difficult time. Unfortunately our other kitty became ill meaning spending 5 days in the frome hospital and they kept us updated 2 times a day on how he was doing and he came back good as new! And we now bring our little puppy in and she loves going and meeting everyone! And she also had to be kept in due to sickness and tummy problems and they were just amazing at keeping us updated and looking after her. We have really bad luck but puzzles & harley are both doing well thanks to garstons!!

User

I write this review having just returned from Frome to say goodbye to our beautiful cat. I have nothing but praise for the care and attention shown to our cat, and us, over the last couple of days. It has been a very difficult time, but we have been kept informed every step of the way, and consulted before every procedure. Andy's dedication to trying his best for our cat, and his honesty when informing us that things were really very serious, was greatly appreciated. We know the best care was given, but sadly proved fruitless, and even though we could have carried on with investigations and trying other treatments, we were told we could likely lose him in the process. That's not fair on any animal, and not to our beautiful boy, so now he will rest in peace. Thank you, we really appreciate everything you did.

User

I worked for Garson practice for 11 years and in that time, many vets and vet nurses cared for my dogs. I always felt they were in the best possible hands. One of the reasons that I continued to work for Garston practice for so many years was the complete job satisfaction knowing as a vet nurse you were providing the best possible care for each animal. I have always found Garston staff both professional and passionate about providing the best service standards to both animals and their owners. I couldn't wish for a better veterinary practice to take my animals to.

User

I know that Garston's have a very high level of care, both clinically and morally. The team is knowledgeable across many areas, both as vets and nurses. I have no doubt that if my poorly pet had to be seen at any time of day or night, they would be well looked after and that any treatment options would be discussed with me fully and be based purely on what is best for my pet and nothing else.

User

I have been a customer at Garston vets for over 15 years. In that time they have always provided first class care and service to me and my animals which range from dogs, cats, chickens, ducks, geese, turkeys, horses, sheep and goats. The animals always come first and their quality of care and service is second to none. Highly recommend.

User

Having used other vets in the area, we decided to register with Garston's when we got a new puppy.. we are SO pleased with the service we receive, Skylah loves coming to see you in all in Melksham as well which is important that she doesn't feel its a scary experience!! She's been spayed over at Trowbridge, and had to go into out of hours care in Frome for a few days/nights and knowing that she was in such amazing care totally put our minds at rest on both occasions.

Would not go anywhere else now.. and recommend you to any of our pet owning friends :)

User

Been going to Garston for some 17 years now and they have looked after 4 dogs and 2 cats.

We lost my retriever, Becky to cancer but they did all they could for her.

We lost a cat to old age and again they did the right thing.

I now have 3 working springers who by the nature of what they do are always getting injuries.

I get preached at a little about what I feed them (I feed RAW) but not to the point of being rude.

I do wish they would do docking on working breeds but understand that is there policy.

So heres the deal, vet care is expensive, so buy insurance, simples!

I don't have any issues with them.
