In the process of changing the name of this page to 'The Fossil Academy'. I have been hard at work creating content for my new YouTube channel. The aim is to have a bricks and mortar fossil prep school up and running by the end of the year. I will be running short and long courses teaching the basics of fossil preparation. I am aiming to get to grips with social media and post regular content. The YouTube channel is much like a video diary documenting my finds and the work I ...undertake in the workshop. I have now got some decent kit to allow me to up the production and i'm trying to improve with each and every new video post. if you've not yet checked out the channel pop on over and check it out, let me know what you think, any constructive feedback is always welcome. Don't forget to subscribe, you'll need a YouTube account, It is free and only takes a few minutes. https://www.youtube.com/user/GBFossils

This one is a good video if you fancy getting down Charmouth with the family looking for small pyrite ammonites along the beach, no hammers required!

I haven't posted anything to this page for quite some time, with the birth of my second (three yeas ago now!) Looking after the two little ones while my beautiful wife went to work i decided to shut up the GB Fossils web shop as I just didn't have the time and my fossil prep came to an almost standstill. The little one has now started pre school which has given me the time to really get back on the fossils. Rather than carrying on as before I wanted to do something a little d...ifferent, I always have people asking lots of questions about fossil prep and collecting so I decided to start a YouTube channel combining my photography, teaching and prepping skills all into one! please check it out and let me know what you think and don't forget to subscribe (if you haven't got a YouTube account it only takes a minute) and share share share!! The more people watch them the more it spurs me on to make more.

Nautilus from Eype, quite rare from this location really happy with how it came out, beautiful calcite chambers

User

Got this one finished for Joe, went back and did some extra work to bowl it out as I wasn't happy with the initial clean

User

Almost finished this block from Stonebarrow Charmouth the nodule was in two pieces on the beach and the back of the large ammonite is missing, meant I had to prep from the other side which made it a lot more time consuming.

User

Got a lovely androg from Stonebarrow Charmouth prepped last night, 3 1/2 hours from start to finish, beautiful brown calcite, it was an unprepped gift from my friend Joe, the first official ammonite in my personal collection :)

Been away from social media for a while, house move, renovation and new baby! I now have a workshop and am back cleaning for customers and new things to add to the shop.

User

Been moving house recently so have been without a workshop! Getting hooked up this week so will be back in business for fossil prep work and the shop will be getting a long overdue overhaul. Thank you for being patient, Dan.

Been cleaning a nice block for a customer, coming out really nice, another half hour on the matrix and it'll be finished

User

Had a few good nights in the workshop, working on an Eype Nautilus which will be finished very soon, I will post up some images later today.

Tip of the week!
If you are organising a collecting trip it is worth getting to the location around an hour after high tide, that way you can follow it out and when it turns, you know its time to get going back. I find this the safest way and maximises collecting time. Remember to always check the tides and ask the locals, some places may become cut off at different stages of the tide, and always let people know where you are and when you are expected back.

Had a good days collecting with Adam and Joe today in Lyme, got a few nice bits, a few nodules I'll have to check in the workshop, was nice to meet Paddy down the beach, if you are in Lyme please go visit his shop The Fossil Workshop, located at 55 Broad Street, Lyme Regis. If you ever find anything of importance Paddy is the man to contact in Lyme. (and you can always ask me)

Please pop and join our new fossil forum, if we can get more involved I'll go to a paid version to get rid of the adverts. http://talkgbfossils.proboards.com/

Green stone Nautilus from Seatown. To sell or not to sell, that is the question? Don't think I will be finding another anytime soon!
