Tonight is week 3 of our Magic League, which has been super popular (we have run out of deck boxes and score sheets provided by Wizards)
Of course we also have our weekly MtG Commander/ EDH night as well, so its a great chance to play a couple of different fun formats.
If that wasnt enough we also have our weekly MtG Standard Showdown tonight, registration from 6pm for a 6.30 start. We will be giving away free standard showdown packs to some of the people taking part. Its gre...at way to play some standard format and potentially get free foil, rare and mythic cards.
If Magic isn't your card game of choice we also have our Legend of the 5 Rings LCG night, which is suitable for newbies and experienced players alike. That should be kicking off around 6.30pm.
We also have our weekly X-wing night starting around 6pm, for people who prefer miniature based gaming. One day I will find time to join in, and get roundly crushed.

Guilds of Ravnica is going to be our first pre-release weekend, woot!
We are in the process of scheduling events for that weekend (28-30th Sept) and the question is, who would be interested in doing a midnight pre-release event on the Friday night?
If there is enough interest we will offer pre-bookings with a deposit so we have a solid idea of numbers before hand and allow people to book the guild of their choice. More details on that to follow.
... We will also be running 2 headed giant format on Saturday and Sealed on Sunday. Again we will allow pre-bookings so people can play as the guild they want. More details to follow.
Across the weekend we will be offering buy-a-box promotion, where buying a booster box gets you an exclusive card. Stock will be very limited so pre-ordering is advised.

So we are sad to say that despite the interest we didnt get enough GMs down yesterday to make running an organised Adventurers League evening really feasible.
Much thanks to Daniel Lettin for volunteering, but without several consistent GMs we dont think we can reasonably offer it as an organised event. People are as always welcome to come down and RP any day of the week. If there is more interest from GMs we would love to revisit getting this organised in the future.
... In the meantime we still have Monday RPG night.

We went this afternoon after having seen all the 5* reviews and speaking to people who have also visited and we weren't let down! The four of us each had a milkshake, which were all lovely, while we played two games. A really chilled atmosphere and although we didn't spend much time talking to them, all of the staff were incredibly welcoming and seemed happy to lend a hand or advice if you needed. As a result of the two games we played, we've made a decision about a game we've been debating buying for a while and found a new one we're hoping will be the next in our collection. Overall, a really cool concept and an awesome place to let Saturday afternoon drift by. We'll definitely be recommending and going back!

The cafe is located in the centre of Leeds, with easy access as it has two entrances.

I have spent multiple hours at this place and I enjoy it every time. The atmosphere is wonderful, the staff are friendly, and the cafe does not get crowded to the point where there are no seats left, however it is at the same time not barren and abandoned.

I attended the quiz this Sunday, and the questions were well balanced, as it was easy for me, a foreigner who isn't a massive geek, to answer some of the questions and get a good amount of points.

I cannot recommend this place enough, and will definitely visit again!

User

Proud to say I was one of the first in on open day. This place is amazing!! Lots on offer for all typers of gamers. The cafe has loads to offer people as well and is reasonably priced! Really want to start Magic the Gathering again.

User

Popped in for my first visit for the quiz after hearing many positive things from friends and family. Small but perfectly formed menu, bright and clean, great atmosphere, friendly and helpful staff - what's not to love?

The quiz was great fun, and there's even a retro pinball machine I happily took advantage of! It's on the 1st floor, but lift access makes it perfectly accessible for mobility impaired folks.

Fellow lady geeks - the staff and clientele are certainly a good gender mix and the usual issues of 'it's a ger-ger-ger girl!!!!' is happily not an issue here.

Love it. See you again soon, geeksters!

User

Only popped my head in to get a feel of the place. But my word.... pleasant climate due to air con, plenty of tables, loads of free board games, plenty of manga and a host of friendly characters.

I was so impressed that I shall be visiting today with with 3 others!

User

Lovely cafe tucked away in a corner of Leeds. Great selections of games to play, lots of tables to play store games or your own games on. Food is delicious and the atmosphere is friendly as people are enjoying their games and get carried away having fun. Always filled with a mix of boys and girls who are playing card games, board games or video games so always something to do.

Crown jewel in the geek retreat crown is the quiz, really would recommend if you want to have a good laugh with friends!

Seriously fun, I can and have done spent hours here!

User

Love coming here, there are lots of games to play and great people to talk to. The cafe has a large variety of drinks and snacks, and the fair use policy is well thought out. The place is incredibly clean and tidy. My only issue is the price of merchandise on sale, some items are double the price of elsewhere.

User

I love the fact this place is so inclusive. Geek extreme or geek lite and you are welcome. Lactose free aka vegan milkshakes are smashing and sooooo good. This is a real retreat with warm welcoming staff and a nice open airy space. Love it!!

User

Husband and I had a very chilled out Sunday afternoon at Geek Retreat. The staff are super friendly, there is a good selection of free to play board games and the food was tasty. We had paninis and some of the brownie cheesecake which was to die for.

We'll be back :)

Had an amazing afternoon here yesterday. Just popped in for a coffee and a cake, then saw the add on to one of the games we had at home. Four and a half hours later, (and several failed campaigns) we finished the game. Never once did we feel rushed. The staff are lovely and happy to chat (and help when stuck). We had several rounds of food and drinks which kept us going. Absolutely loved it and would definitely go again. I would recommend anyone to spend a day there a try a new game in a lovely space.

User

Great place, cool design, lovely staff, plenty to eat and drink, good game library and other merchandise. Plenty of events each day and the game night (Thursdays) are awesome :3

User

Great place to just chill and learn a couple of new board games, air con was truly welcomed on a hot day like today and while we got a little heated over a game as simple as dixit (which we resolved in the end). Will most deffinitely be back with other friends and the same ones too!

User

First visit today and loved it. Staff are lovely and very enthusiastic. Great space to hang out, enjoy a game and some sweet treat. A little geeky haven in the city, a must visit!

User

Finally came in to learn how to play magic the gathering after putting it off for many weeks. Really enjoyed my time there & the staff as always are freindly. Look forward to games of magic when im in. Thanks

User

Came in with my husband today, fab place and hoping to come again soon!! Staff were very friendly, knowledgable and helpful. Store layout was well thought out and it was easy to browse. Food and drink were well priced and there was plenty of seating.

As mentioned above, hoping to visit again soon!!

User

Came here with a visiting friend and had a great time! the staff are great- he was so friendly and introduced us to games we might like (we loved ghost blitz!) and gave lots of info on events etc coming up. Would recommend to all :)

User

Been here a few times since opening, staff are very friendly, lots of good vegan options on the menu and the space is very inclusive. Fair use policy is brilliant too given the drinks and food are all very fairly priced!

User

An absolutely excellent place, really helpful and passionate people in addition to very reasonably priced food and drink that's vegan inclusive! If you have any interest in card, board or roleplaying games you certainly should pop in!
