you made my day today! we were sat outside perusing the menu and deciding whether to eat early or have something at home later when we heard loud singing from the kitchen. It was suddenly unanimous, we needed to eat the singing mans food. We were not disappointed! We waited for a table and was kept informed of how long by the best waitress I have ever encountered (short red hair and black specs, I solute you). My friends had the halloumi tagliatelle and the beef cheek pie. I had the belly pork with black pudding mash and the most delicious accompaniments. I love food, I'm gobsmacked, you're awesome!
Two words... 'Open Lasagne' ๐
I have to say, that meal is the absolute best meal I've ever tasted. I've gone a few times lately just for that. I said if I could kidnap the chef and make him/her cook that for us everyday I would ๏ฟฝ
The pub also has a beautiful atmosphere, amazing decor and a great outdoor area.
I'll be back again - possibly this week - I just hope they don't sell out of my favourite meal ;)
Nipped in for a bite to eat with a few friends had a hot roast pork sandwich and chips off specials menu was absolutely gorgeous will definitely return
Just popped in for a light lunch! Couldn't resist the open lasagne. WOW so tasty, think it's the best meal I've had for ages, also chicken and Stilton tagliatelle I'm told was really good. We will have to call another day for desert, there was so much we didn't have room. 5*++
Had steak and ale pie it was excellent full of meat and the pastry was perfect , my husband had the belly pork it came with fried cauliflower which my hubby really enjoyed , great selection of beers to wash it down with so made us both very happy .
Had a lovely meal this evening, went for the pan fried cod off the specials board, delicious! Lovely pub with great service.
First thing to notice was the St George Cross banners everywhere. Felt quite patriotic. Now the food, I had a pork loin roll, with gravy, apple sauce and chips. It was great the best pub meal I've had in a while, the pork was succulent, with a crispy stuffing pancake. The chips were so tasty, loved them. The only criticism which is picky but a home made apple sauce would have been the icing on the cake. Will definitely be back. Thank you.
Called for a drink. Good choice of ales for the boys. Decided to have some food. Chips are lovely even better than mine. Will deffo be back. Generous portions too. Well done ......
The food was fantastic, had Sunday lunch and was very tasty. However it states that it comes with fresh vegetables which we were not brought. Also it was quite irritating that our waitress seemed to be asking every other table but ours if everything was ok and if they needed anything else which I found quite rude. Lovely food but can't say the same for the service
Staff friendly and looked after you nicely, food was delicious and hot.good selection next time I'll have the fish and chips it looked superb but highly delighted with our meal.drove fair distance so was not disappointd
Nice ... lovely summer day somewhere for the kids in the back garden very tasty prawn spaghetti for me friendly staff and local what more could you want x
Food was great and the pie was huge.real chips too.but the pub was cold Luke warm radiator and fire had burnt down, more than one person with their coat on eating.shame as otherwise lovely.
First time for us and it was my friends 60th, I dropped some things of early in the afternoon and when we got there for our lunch they had trimmed the table up for us. All five meals were spot on, I had Sunday dinner the pork was beautiful. We had a rookie waiter who was steady but did everything we asked of him, everyone has to learn at some point. Good atmosphere, good food and reasonably priced would definitely recommend it xxx
the food and service was excellent as usual we were disappointed at the amount of old bird droppings on the tables we kept having to wipe the childrens hands and watch where we put the cutlery etc made it uncomfortable where a simple wipe daily would keep it better as we do at home
Nice pub and friendly but looked at menu and it's not a country pub menu anymore it's a run of the mill microwave menu off a council estate!! Used to do lovely country foods like game pie etc but sadly gone โน๏ธ
Food okay but a young girl behind the bar who was very disrespectful and rude to almost every person she was serving even heard other people in beer garden on about her being rude. One person asked if they could order some food she shrug her shoulders and said 'Suppose' like really why you being like that.
Weโve been a few times and been ok. Could do with a freshen up though decor wise.Had a Sunday dinner on Fatherโs Day . The mash was sloppy and the roast potatoes had a taste of being cooked in old fat. Meat was nice. Veg was nice ,the cheese sauce on top too runny.Customer service spot on.
Had lunch here yesterday and was really disappointed. The "beef and onion on brioche" was 2 slices of fatty beef on a sweet bun (?)with no onions in sight, a few chips and some gravy. Although the taste was ok, it certainly wasn't as described and was definitely not worth the ยฃ8.95 price tag
What used to be a fantastic Pub seems to have taken a turn for the worst. Half the play area is now gone and the rest is in poor repair. They have removed full sugar Pespi or Coke equivalent as in their words "they are serving what people want and that the people argue about the sugar tax and most people prefer diet or Max. Where i don't mind paying more and should be my choice not their choice. I tried to order a childrens pizza for ยฃ6.50 and was told they have stopped doing the childrens pizza so the adult one is ยฃ1 more. The staff didn't seem to empathise and kind of said like it or lump it, so if anyone wants any recommendations then go to the Rockingham Arms across the road which is a great pub with outside space and is far better value all round.
