Went lunch time with my daughter for my birthday, had two sets of tapas, was fabulous, my daughter hasn't had Thai food before and she loved it, food and service very good, and very friendly will definitely go back x

Tried their lunchtime menu. Delicious food and great service! Would highly recommend. Plus extra bonus that I now have a decent local Thai restaurant. Can't wait to go back... 🙂

I went there for lunch for the first time today. The food was delicious and the staff were really nice and helpful, I will definitely be going back again.

Food is good. Not a bad dish on the menu. Service could be better but staff are lovely so hard to complain. Happy atmosphere. Would recommend

First time there and it was amazing! Restaurant is really nicely decorated, staff are really attentive and the food was delicious! We had the duck confit and it was brilliant! Can’t wait to come back!

User

Fab food & service and if you like cocktails try the Giggling Cosmo ... amazing!

2nd time here for lunch, absolutely love it food is fab, no rushing to get you out - and waitress must of heard that it was my birthday as they sang and put candles in my dessert 😃

Very good food and very busy there but service could be faster. We had a 2 hour window to eat and were almost 30 minutes later. Apart from that there's no problem and I find the decor better than the restaurant in Billericay.

User

Really lovely meal. We ordered starter but when eating it was too much chilli in it. But Mark the server saw us struggling and took it away and replaced it with something different no quibbles. Had great night have rebooked for the 9 th again

User

Was a little disappointed with the meal overall. Very expensive for what you receive. Edible food but defiantly nothing to wright home about.

User

The restaurant inside is designed amazing, and the staff are very helpful however food is not up to the standard you would expect from a giggling squid restaurant (been the the Billericay branch before) ordered the tropical jungle curry and for starters was more of a soup. Far too watery. Overall would visit again but wouldn't rush back...

Hmm, visited on a Weds evening but so busy and staff couldn't cope. A great addition to Brentwood although ÂŁ160 for 3 adults and a kid seems a bit expensive for just 2 courses and rice or noodles in every dish!

Everything was very good except the chicken satay starter. It was thin strips of chicken dry and way over cooked , needed a lot of sauce to cover that up. The salt and pepper squid starter was fantastic as was the red Thai curry and sticky rice I had for my main ! :)

Went there with the girlfriend tonight (Sunday at 7pm) , she really liked the food, I thought it was ok. My MAIN issue was the service, it wasn't that the staff were rude, it's that they didn't pay enough attention to us.

They were too busy tidying up and doing till receipts so they can go home as soon as the customers finished. During the meal my girlfriend wanted a glass of coke, I was looking around for 5 mins to get someone's attention, couldn't get anyone as everyone were concentrating on tidying up for closing up later on, then I walked over to the till and told the gentleman about the drink order and he said he would get it sent over (he was polite), few mins later when I looked over to check because the drink still hadn't come, I then saw him finishing what he was doing then tell the other staff to bring over the drink.

I had decided then I would leave ZERO tip as I wasn't happy with the service. When the bill came there was an automatic 10% added on (with an option to remove it), but I am not going to embarrass myself or the staff by asking to remove it so I would rather just pay it.

But overall I wouldn't go back.

Having heard good things about the Billericay restaurant, we tried the new Brentwood one to celebrate our daughter's graduation. The Giggling Squid has lots of potential, as the fundamental thing of a restaurant, the provision of good food, has a big tick in the box. However, a restaurant experience is much more than just the food and in regards to all other items the Giggling Squid let itself down!

We all enjoyed our meals, starters and mains were tasty, well cooked and seasoned. The rest of the experience was not so great.

The service was average at best, not enough people waiting on the tables, clear lack of understanding of items on the menu and a lack of confidence in handling glasses, plates and bottles. It looked like we had some pretty inexperienced servers and this is not right when you're paying a good price for food and service.

The restaurant is cluttered and extremely noisy. It was difficult to sit at some of the chairs at our table due to the proximity of other tables. Too many tables in too small an area to maximise covers. We were seated near the area where plates were cleared away to, which wasn't particularly pleasant and was noisy with waiters talking, dropping things and banging cutlery and crockery.

There was no welcome on our arrival, beyond a 'come this way'.

All in all, despite the quality menu the Giggling Squid in Brentwood did not provide an experience worth the money and it is highly unlikely that I would return.

Got seated in window where it was cold. Didnt even get offered a drink for 25mins when the waiter decided to pop over ordered 4x Bellini cocktails and a bottle of Prosecco. Only 3 came over and the look on the waitress face was like it was our fault. Food was ok , but Lemongrass just up High Rd is far better and cheaper

User

Food was ok, but lack the finesse that you expect from Thai food, pre cooked sauces and unimprenated meat.

I asked for the Giggling Squid signature dish of “giggling squid”only to be told you can only have it at lunch time 😟. It will be a long time before we eat there again.

Came to the giggling squid Brentwood with my girlfriend to give it a try as we normally go to the lemon grass! It took 20 minutes for a drinks order to be taken. The food was decent but in terms of the portion and taste it doesn’t outshine its competition! The atmosphere in the restaurant wasn’t great! It was very understaffed and clueless to what they should be doing, our waitress wasn’t attentive and never checked back on food or asked for extra drinks! We had to ask 3 times for drinks and would only give us the bottles and not fresh glasses! When we got the bill I personally don’t think it’s was great value for money. We asked for the service charge to be taken off and the waiter who didn’t serve us laughed and walked off, there was no manager asked if there was a reason behind our unhappy experience! So we payed and left! Will not be returning anytime soon.
