A Traditional Country Music Club running every Tuesday with no charge on the door except for bands. . Chris, Mags and Melvin run this highly acclaimed club.

Hi, my name is Chris and for 40 years my wife Mags and I have been running country music Clubs in our pubs . . . . . . and for the last 12 or so years helped by our good friend Melvin. We started in 1979 in a city centre public house in wakefield at that time called the Wakefield Pride. We moved in the early 80s to The Poste Haste, also in Wakefield. This is when country music took off for us, when we had top acts from around the country, from bands such as Poacher to single acts such as Clinton Ford. Sucsess was great with the subsquent pubs, The Chequerfield Hotel in Pontefract and then on to the Lupset Hotel Wakefield where we ran country for nearly 20 years . This ended Christmas 2009 when we semi retired. Then after 9 months . . yes you guessed it . . . cant leave it alone . . . a good friend of ours Tom (steward) of the City Club, Brunswick Street Wakefield, asked if we would like to start a country club there. After a long debate and soul searching for about thirty seconds we said . . . Why not ? The rest as they say ! ! ! ! ! !
