Gio Restaurant Description
GIO RISTORANTE is the younger sister to the long established GIORGIO RISTORANTE on Portland Street. It is a lively setting based in the centre of Manchester on Lower Mosley Street, perfectly situated close to THE BRIDGEWATER HALL. Gio Ristorante has been operating since 6th September 1996 coinciding with the opening of the Bridgewater Hall and has been successfully trading and accommodating all their clientele ever since.
Gio is also patronized by the many MANCHESTER CENTRAL (GMEX) exhibitors and visitors, along with nearby PALACE (Oxford Rd) and Manchester OPERA HOUSE (Quay St) theatre goers. It is also frequented by guests staying at one of the many hotels nearby such as THE MIDLAND (directly opposite), THE RADISSON EDWARDIAN, THE PREMIER INN, THE JURY INN and many, many more.
Gio’s vast menu with its wide and varied choice of freshly prepared modern and classic Italian dishes, along with a variety of pizzas made and baked in the traditional Napolitan way, offers something irresistible for everyone.
Great value PRE-THEATRE /CONCERT and special FIXED PRICE MENUS are also available (please see the menu page for details).

What a tremendous Italian restaurant.,
Our first visit here and it definitely won't be our last !!
A very warm welcome on arrival lovely table for 2 with excellent instant service which was apparent all evening,.
The menu was excellent with a tremendous choice of starters mains and pudding,.
The wines were of the Italian region which was exstensive and a cracking choice as well ,.
The food we chose was outstanding all night and looking round other tables people were getting some amazing food and great value for money with the portion sizes?,
Great service fab food overall a great dining experience which I'd recommend to anyone 😃👍
The staff were fantastic and extremely polite, it was extremely busy but we did not have to wait ages for our food and the food was fantastic and the price was very reasonable too. I advice you to book they were very busy. Definitely go back again next time I go to Manchester.
The best. Always love this little restaurant. Out of the way but certainly worth a visit. Great food. Xx
Thank you. I really enjoyed the meal, the atmosphere and the company. We were made to feel comfortable from the off. I need a gluten free meal and that wasn’t a problem. What a great experience. Will definitely go again
Pre theatre early dinner. Ambience, staff and food were faultless. Will definitely go here when in Manchester.
Food was delicious staff were so friendly would definitely recommend
Fantastic food fantastic service
Our first time there but will definitely be returning
Fab food, great service nothing too much trouble, relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Will definitely be going again. Possibly one tiny wee niggle, the wine list is a bit limited, especially as there's so many great Italian wines out there!
Called in for a pre theatre meal with my sister yesterday.Fantastic service, Great food , very attentive staff and Excellent value for money. Will definitely be making a return trip on our next theatre outing.
Brilliant portions not too big, not too small. Garlic mushrooms were heavenly and while I wasn't too keen on the sauce for the chicken (personal taste) the chicken was cooked to perfection. staff very helpful and friendly
13 of us went for a celebratory meal and the food and service was excellent, from the starters to the desert. ....and all rheumatoid meals came out together piping hot.....magical
We have been in this restaurant a few times over the past few years when visiting Manchester either before or after a show or concert. Have always had the two course special menu which is more than acceptable even though you do feel a little rushed, but that’s what this menu is all about. Would go again next time in town !!!!!
Nice food. Good service. Only problem is their insistence to add a 10% service charge onto the bill , for a table for 2 Needless to say I declined to pay it Let the customer decide if they want to pay a gratuity
Lovely pre Christmas meal. Good food (excellent fillet steak), attentive service and good ambience. We were a bit early and our table wasn't ready, with limited space to sit and have a drink beforehand - the only negative.
Food was lovely - most of the staff pleasant but one of female staff was quite abrupt and a litte rude - they wanted us to pay full price for the children but agreed a cheaper price for them eventually - service charge is added to bill but is optional, ours was over £18 but we chose to pay £11 which I don't think pleased them.
Been to the restaurant many times when to see shows at the Bridgewater Hall. The food and staff is brilliant. Never had a bad meal in this place. Will continue to go again in future without hesitation.
Been a few times, food is consistently good, service is attentive and friendly, good choice of food on the menu.
As always we had a lovely meal, excellent service, smiling staff, our choice of restaurant every time.
Service did not carry out a check back to
Confirm we were satisfied with the food. When I expressed my dissatisfaction for my main (seafood tagliatelle) manager explained All food served was preheated from frozen, because 'cooking is tricky in a restaurant'
Manager was patronising to myself and my partner and explained that due to is not being in the food business we don't understand. The manager also explained how difficult it is to actually get a restaurant which serves fresh fish in Manchester. This is whilst he was displaying confrontational behaviour by leaning rudely over the table to me, oblivious to my partner whilst she spoke.
Food poor. Management worse.
