About Glebelands Primary School - Pta

Glebelands Primary School - Pta Description

Staff provide a stimulating working environment with imaginative teaching. Children’s learning is enriched through a range of out of school clubs and visits, including residential visits.

Each child is an individual to be nurtured and supported. We have a good record of working with children who have Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and became the first primary school in Leicester to be awarded Dyslexic Friendly School status.

Our Gold Artsmark reflects our commitment to developing the arts. Our choirs and drama groups perform in public each year. Click here for arts.

Children and staff are encouraged to respect the natural resources that we use. All our paper and food waste is recycled. We were one of the first schools in the country to achieve the environmental EMAS status.

We have high expectations of children’s behaviour. All children are assembly every week to celebrate children’s successes, to which parents are invited.

As a school with Enhanced Healthy Schools status we are committed to the children’s health and safety. Foundation and Key Stage 1 children have free fruit every day. and we have a healthy tuck shop. Healthy school meals are cooked on site. Click here for school dinners. We have signed up to the Anti Bullying Charter. Click here for anti-bullying.

We gained the Activemark because of our commitment to providing high quality physical education and a range of extra-curricular sports and dance opportunities. Click here for sports.

Our modern building is set within its own grounds and is well equipped. Facilities include a library, a newly refurbished computer suite, a separate Foundation base for our youngest children, classrooms with computers connected to interactive whiteboards, changing rooms and a disabled toilet. It is all on one level.

The school admits up to 40 children in each year group. Application forms are available from the school office.

Children aged 3 on 31st August are entitled to a year’s part time education. Children aged 4 and above on 31st August may start full time.

Where Glebelands is a suitable school for children with disabilities, our disability action plan (available on the website) provides for adaptations such as a disabled toilet and modifications to the classroom for children on the autistic spectrum.

We want to work closely with parents as partners in their child’s education. Staff are happy to talk to parents throughout the year and we welcome parents who would like to help in the classroom. An active Parent Teacher Association organises activities for the children and raises funds for the school.

Glebelands is in the process of becoming an extended school. We work closely with the Glebelands Pre-School who share our site and provide before and after school child care.
