A new flu vaccine for people aged 65 and over could reduce deaths from the virus and lessen the burden on the NHS significantly this winter.
Public Health England (PHE) says the new vaccine could reduce GP flu consultations by 30,000 and hospitalisations by 2,000 across the country.

Flu is a serious risk to both the mother and unborn baby. Pregnant women have an increased risk of developing complications from flu. The vaccine can be given at any stage of pregnancy and is safe for mother and baby. Rabies is the leading cause of death out of all diseases spread from animals to humans and more than 59,000 people die each year from rabies worldwide, with 95% of these deaths occurring in Africa and Asia.
It is important that travellers are aware of the potential rabies risks from animals to ensure they don’t put themselves at risk while abroad. By avoiding touching or feeding animals; this may reduce the risk that they are bitten, scratched or licked by an animal that is carrying rabies.
