Well Father Christmas took time out from his busy schedule planning his world trip in 11 days time to come and enjoy a cruise from our new base at the Black Shed in Slimbridge on one of our boats. Santa Cruises on our Narrowboat Glevum.
Final preparations are being made for Santa Cruises on 15th & 22nd December from our new base at Slimbridge. I met Santa yesterday and he is looking forward to taking lots of happy children out on our boat Glevum for a short trip up the canal. Price will include a Christmas Film, a meal, drinks and a present for all. As winter approaches and we have the first hard frost. Our boats are all over the canal, Otter is in Gloucester for the Victorian Market, Badger is at R W Davis's boatyard, Saul Junction, Glevum and Ratty are at our new operating base next to the Black Shed at Slimbridge. Gloucester Narrowboats in the thick of it!! Enjoying the Sun and watching the arrival of Gloucesters Warrior Queen into The Docks!!

And they have arrived in one piece - all ready for tomorrow. The Longboat will be coming through Llanthony Bridge at 12.00 with “The Queen” onboard, before making her onward journey to St Oswalds through the streets of the City.
**Grab yourself a prime viewing spot on our 12.00 boat trip (Glevum will leave the barge arm at approx 11.45). See the spectacle from the water, and then enjoy a 45 minute boat trip down the canal all for a princely (or should I say Queenly!!) sum of £6 per adult & £3 per child.

Gloucester Narrowboats are doing their bit for the commemoration- The Viking-era longship that will be in Gloucester Docks as part of the City’s commemoration of Aetheflaed’s (Gloucesters Warrior Queen) death 1,100 years ago, Is being towed up to Gloucester from Saul Junction by Glevum one of our fleet of hire boats. Due to leave Saul Junction at 3pm, the boats should be arriving under St Annes Bridge by Sainsburys at approx 5pm - The vessel will be moored by The Sula Lightship until tomorrows ceremony. Keep your eyes open - pop down to the canal and see if you can see them arriving.

We really enjoyed our day out on 'Badger'. The narrow boat was well equipped and more than adequate for 10 people plus a dog! The weather had been awful through the night but turned out to be a lovely sunny day and we had a great laugh with our family and best friends. We would recommend to everyone as a great day out and we will be doing it again next year.

Very friendly and professional company who go through all the rules of the canal and how to drive etc before you set off. We set off in 'Otter' and had the best day. Boat in great condition with everything you need on board. Can have the plastic sides up or down (as your windows) depending on the weather you have... But they have to be put up or down from the outside. Very easy to steer the boat and so much fun to do as a family! I think next time we wouldn't book a big pub lunch we would just take picnic food!

Today we took the badger narrow boat out for a family trip (5 of us) and we can all agree we had the most fantastic day! Firstly, we were extremely lucky with the weather being lovely and secondly the boat itself was immaculate! Started with the briefing which was very easy to follow. The staff themselves were very friendly, helpful and I didn't catch the name of the bloke who briefed us but he was so funny, we all went on board feeling relaxed and cheery before we were left to explore. We were provided with everything we needed for the day such as a toilet, kitchen (sink, cooker, kettle), tea, coffee, milk, sugar and clean mugs, plates, cooking utensils. Took some bacon on board for some bacon sarnies whilst cruising down the canal so we could stop later on for some food at a pub. Moored up just after splatt bridge for the blokes on board to fish over the side and it was great fun! Caught some perch and other good sized fish. Would really recommend taking fishing equipment if it's your thing, my partner was fishing off the boat whilst in action to! Pets are allowed on board also which is great and our daxie enjoyed it so much when we stepped off, he sat on the edge of the docks crying to get back on! Lastly we would ALL really recommend this company for a family day out whether you have an occasion for it or not! You'll certainly be seeing our faces again next year for sure! Thank you all for the best experience!

The boat was spotlessly clean and tidy, with ample room for the 8 of us on board, there was tea and coffee making facilities, and ample plates, mugs and cutlery.

A very enjoyable day out for all those on board - all three generations. Most had a go at steering and none of us crashed.

We hired Otter, which has the fold up windows at the front of the boat allowing you to feel that you are outside, but still under shelter.

There is ample car parking at the near by Southgate Street car park which is only a two minute walk away.

We are looking forward to sailing again with Gloucester Narrow Boats - one day soon.

Thank you to Gloucester Narrowboats for making my birthday so special!! We booked one of the great boats for a couple of hours, took a picnic, several bottles of bubbly (including one from the Narrowboat team - which was so lovely ).

Amazing day spent on Badger for my husbands 50th birthday ! We cruised down to Splatt bridge where we moored up and walked into Frampton. Amazing helpful owners, will definitely be booking again !
