After a lovely warm summer (for a change!) it's definitely feeling like autumn today, which can only mean one thing......time to book your flu vaccination, if you are eligible. Appointments are available to book from early October so please call our reception staff on 0151 524 2444 to book yours. Unfortunately the nasal vaccine which is given to eligible children aged 2-17 is not yet available, but we hope to have supplies soon.

Glovers Lane surgery staff are taking part in the Race for Life this weekend at Aintree Racecourse. They are collecting sponsorship to help raise valuable funds for cancer research. The surgery is getting a new telephone system, which is due to go live on Wednesday 7th June 2017!! The new system will allow callers to select whether they want appointments, enquiries or test results and you will be able to wait in a queue until the receptionist are able to answer your call (you will be charged but will be told what number you are in the queue, so you can make an informed decision of whether to stay on hold or call back at a quieter time). There are lots of other amazing features behind the scenes which we hope will in the long term benefit our patients. We hope the transition goes smoothly and our patients are not inconvenienced in any way.

Unfortunately there is a major cyber attack on the NHS computer and phone systems across the whole of the UK, including hospitals and GP practices. NHS Merseyside said: 'Following a suspected national cyber attack we are taking all precautionary measures possible to protect our local NHS systems and services'. Glovers Lane Surgery has no computers, as they have been shut down to try and protect us and obviously the doctors and the administration staff are therefore severely curtailed in the service they can offer to you. The doctors are still trying to carry out their consultations, taking manual notes and issuing hand written prescriptions but we are unable to deal with any enquiries. We are hoping normal service will be resumed as soon as possible, please bear with us. In an emergency please dial 999.
