and script-writing.

At Glow, Charlie might decide to leave the chocolate factory and go to the moon or Hermione might open her very own school of magic.

Through stories and books, Glow inspires and nurtures children and young people, building their creative confidence, developing their literary and cultural knowledge and giving them the tools they need to bring their ideas to life.

By providing stimulating, high quality workshops, we want to give children and young people the opportunity to discover their passions and talents by allowing creativity to blossom in an atmosphere of good old fashioned fun.

Created by professional artists and educators, Glow engages talented individuals working at the cutting edge of the creative industry to share their expertise and help enable the next generation to achieve their goals.

MEET THE GLOW TEAM

Gloria Lowe: Founder and Director

Gloria’s passion for books took her all the way to the University of Oxford where she gained a BA in English Literature and Language. Since then, she has devised and toured in productions for different audiences and age groups throughout the UK, as well as working in Arts education, where she has developed and delivered workshops for children and teenagers internationally.

Gloria also works as an independent director, producer and writer for shows in schools, theatres and festivals across the UK and back in 2009, founded her own theatre company. She has performed stories through theatre and dance for as long as she can remember with experiences ranging from operating a giant bird puppet at Nottingham’s Royal Concert Hall and teaching drama on rooftops in India, to leading hundreds of UK school children in creating their own wacky fairy tales. Gloria gets to share her love of creativity with her son Walter - every day is about singing silly songs, wearing funny hats and discovering more about the world. Gloria is determined to engage all people whatever their story, background or ability, in theatre and the arts- making it accessible, inspiring and fun for all.

Francis Lowe: Animation and Illustration Specialist

Francis is an artist and award-winning academic with over 20 years’ experience working in the creative industry. He started his career working in Hollywood on ‘Alien 3’, ‘Solar Crisis’ and ‘Tom and Jerry the Movie’ and moved on to Children’s Television in the UK (CITV’s ‘Wolves, Witches and Giants’ and BAFTA-nominated ‘Grizzly Tales for Gruesome Kids’), but his love of drawing really began when he was a little boy.

As a young man, he would spend hours poring over picture books, making his own little cardboard puppets and building mechanisms to help bring his stories to life. He now works as a Senior Lecturer and Course Director in Illustration and Animation at Coventry University, contributing to cutting edge research and delivering papers all over the world. He believes that everyone can draw and that everyone has a story inside them, so when he's not making his own comics or animations, he's showing other people how to do it.

Tilda Stickley: Education consultant and Head of curriculum development

Tilda Stickley has a 1st class degree in Education Studies with English and Drama from the University of Cambridge. Having grown up in a creative family she has always understood the value of a dynamic, colourful and joy-filled education. She has performed in theatres and community venues in the UK, India, Nepal and China, and loves using storytelling, dancing, singing and comedy to bring tales to life. With experience as a Hong Kong-based Education Consultant and work with a range of high profile clients as an Instructional Designer, Tilda is determined to help people learn and achieve.

She is currently at the University of Nottingham Doctoral Training Centre studying for a funded PhD on the role of children's play in infant schools. Her favourite book in the world is The Twits and she loves cuddling sausage dogs!
