Go Outdoors Colchester

Went to go outdoors turner rise it was a beavers group activity wall climbing and leader's confirmed after booking again that all kids could climb was told yes so long as they can fit in harness and hat we arrive at this circus show called go outdoors staff didn't know what was going on then after 15 min some tearful beavers got turned away as they couldn't climb....this store clearly lacks staff training and information sharing and 1 person was left to deal with the kids whilst 2 others looked on nice teamwork ...not ! My son was left to wriggle his own way out of the harness with his Houdini moves .i wouldn't use go outdoors as it's clear they just want your money with no interest in helping

Ok as long as you don't want climbing equipment. Very limited stock. Staff really nice.

Really helpful staff. Products good value for money. Good access. Plenty of parking space.

Don't get me wrong, Go Outdoors sells some really good stuff and you can get some bargains if you happen to be in at the right time. There are however many problems, the staff are extremely inexperienced and few in number, people wandering round looking for help could be there for days before finding anybody. Stock control is practically non existant, the staff use the same webpage as you or I to find out stock levels and prices which are invariably wrong. Prices written on the items don't tally up when they are scanned and often have more than one price on sale stickers making it impossible to know which price is correct (we saw a tent with four different sale cards on each with a different price!!!). We were told when in store that an item was not available, yet when phoning customer services they told us the staff could have transfered it for us from another store, I went back and the staff tried to do this but found out that none of the 5 stores showing stock actually had any anyway!
Like I said at thr start, great items are available (if you can find them), but the logistics of buying something from them isn't worth the trip.

We went to purchase a rucksack and a very helpful member of staff called Will talked us through what would work best. He asked lots of questions and recommended a decent rucksack that was budget friendly. The lady at the till was also very courteous.

Was served by a very helpful girl called Emily. She quickly found my order for collection and helped me choose a backpack. In and out in a matter of minutes. Great service

Not good. We use this store primarily for the excellent prices. However! The staff assistance is very poor, the amount of staff available to ask for assist is also poor.. The knowledge is poor. The amount of stock is poor and finding items without assistance ( there's very little staff to assist) is hard to do. We have visited twice in as many weeks and complete the surveys they always send you but never get a response to poor feedback.

I find it very frustrating in today's culture of customer service that a store if this size fails dramatically every time we visit! It fills a price niche but customer service is awful!!

Awful, awful, awful! Found some climbing shoes I wanted and contacted Go Outdoors through their Price Match form on their site as I could get them £40 cheaper elsewhere. Spent the next 2 weeks emailing with no response. Try messaging through facebook, nothing. Went to the store to be mumbled at by some child who was working there whilst another 3 members of staff stood about chatting. Finally found a different site who would price match, took less than an hour from first email to sale, and got an extra 20% off my next order. Don't Go Outdoors, Go Elsewhere.

Store was huge, prices are steep. After finding item I wanted cursory search online found it cheaper in a number of places.

Some of the staff were really helpful others were just damn rude. Said excuse me to a member of staff so I could get passed he didnt move at all and carried on his conversation with staff. No acknowledgement at all. Till staff were a little slow and manager/supervisor came over and sorted the problem but no sorry to keep you waiting and again no acknowledgement we were there. Bad customer service.
