Goldeneye Guides Description

Goldeneye Guides is owned and run by William Fricker, photographer and travel writer, and has become a leading independent publisher of UK Guidebooks and Map-Guides, and a specialist publisher of Map-Guides for Cycling Country Lanes and Traffic-Free Routes, and Mountain Biking on off-road routes, to the most popular tourist destinations in England and Wales, as well as Walking in the Cotswolds, and along the North Devon Coast. William has been producing these guides for many years and has amassed a unique knowledge and passion for the English and Welsh landscape; the countryside and coastline, the harbours, towns and villages, the country houses, gardens and churches.

The Cornwall, Cotswolds, Devon and Lake District Guidebooks provide a mental and visual feast, and are illustrated with stunning and unique photography. The places described are chosen on merit, for no advertising revenue is accepted from those included. These Guidebooks make excellent gifts, and are also a good read when you are sitting in one of the many inns or beach cafes recommended.

Cornwall Guidebook, 2018 Edition. Herewith, the new cover and after driving half way across the country to my designer to deliver the final text I took advantage of a beautiful evening to walk Salar beside the River Torridge. Such are the compensations for a travel guide publisher/photographer.

Falmouth Working Boat Festival. I was invited onto the St Agnes, a 45 foot sailing craft for a days sail around the harbour. There was little wind, bright sunshine...what impressed me was the view of Falmouth's Frontage. Perhaps, like Venice, the true way to enter this famous old seaport is by sea.

Port Navas is a hidden gem on the Helford. All the better at dawn when the creek's trees reflect their overhanging branches. The new cafe in the Sailing Club is now run by my old cricketing mate Nigel Logan and I am informed the food makes a fine repast.

Kennal Vale Nature Reserve at Ponsanooth is a former Gunpowder Works. There is a frail delicacy with the leaf coverage in May and Early June. Autumn brings its own glories, too.
