In February the death of Joseph Shabalala, at the age of 78, was announced. He had died in South #Africa after a long, but unspecified illness, and though his passing went almost unnoticed in the UK his world wide musical influence is legendary with his contribution to Paul Simon's award winning 'Graceland' album, released in 1986 and reaching sales of over 10 million!
But, more than that, his foundation of the a cappella male singing group #Ladysmith Black Mambazo, with a mission to spread 'Love, Peace and Harmony', is a testament to the christian faith he acquired in 1976 and that subsequently sustained and motivated him for the rest of his days.

A 'Share the light' candle to support Coronavirus charities has been launched in the UK by interior design studio Jenny Allan Design.
Its aim is to boost mental health and raise vital funds by donation of 100% of profits to the National Emergencies Trust and NHS Charities Together. Everyone can share their love by sending the candle to others who they can’t physically be with whilst helping the national effort to win the fight against Coronavirus.
Self-isolation is diffi...cult for many people and+lighting a candle can offer a small boost to moral and enhance general well-being.
The #sharethelight candle concept was created by London based interior designer Jenny Allan and her team who wanted to do something that would raise money for Coronavirus charities and NHS staff charities whilst also lifting spirits of the wider population.
Jenny said: “The #sharethelight candle is a way of sending love and light to your family,+friends or even yourself and at the same time it will also help to support the National Emergencies Trust and NHS Charities Together. It is a way of connecting and helping others through these dark times. Every candle will make a difference.”
The candle has been created for anyone who needs a little light at the end of the tunnel and this quote from Martin Luther King Jr was one of the inspirations behind its design.
“Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that.”
Candles can be purchased for £9.99 via the www.sharethelightcandle.co.uk website. Profits to National Emergencies Trust and NHS Charities Together

TV documentaries and public memorials often overlook the national call to prayer that preceded the rescue at Dunkirk. As many of us again turn to prayer in the face of a pandemic, Mike Popplewell takes a look at the event in May 1940 that turned the course of history, and his personal connection to it…

AS I WRITE, more and more of normal life in the world is being shut down in response to the coronavirus pandemic.
Whether its church services or the Olympic Games – everything was being cancelled, postponed till better times ahead.
When you read this, it may all be over – or you may still be in lockdown. So much is uncertain. We may lose some of those we love. You may be able to return to work, or your job may have been lost. The pandemic threatens to steal our hope and even ...our future – but there is a rock solid hope that can never be taken from you.
Why? Because one thing can never be cancelled – God’s love for you and me and us all.AS I WRITE, more and more of normal life in the world is being shut down in response to the coronavirus pandemic.

By the Editor...
IT’S STRANGE how in recent years the old slogan ‘Keep Calm and Carry On’ made a comeback on every piece of merchandise you can think of. But there wasn’t a #coronavirus pandemic sweeping the planet then. Will it be of any help now?
It was once a war-time rally cry to keep everyone’s spirits up in the face of terrible hardship and fear. As we face a different kind of threat today, such slogans can seem empty and meaningless. And judging by the recent panic buy...ing in shops, perhaps the famous British ‘stiff upper lip’ of yesteryear has gone for ever!

NEW TRACT FROM GOOD NEWS!
A full colour, brightly illustrated leaflet explaining the good news of #Jesus is now available from the people who bring you Good News outreach newspaper.
‘Good News for Everyone!’ shows how the #Gospel is good news for our past, our present and our future, and is written in a way that today's generation can understand.
... It can be used with or without Good News newspaper. It both effectively explains what the paper is all about, and works independently as a stand-alone tract.
Used in conjunction with the paper, you can either enclose it with your deliveries or give it to people as you do follow-up (after covid-19 restrictions are lifted). Alternatively, it works well on its own in any outreach.
The message – which you can read on our website under the Tract tab on the main menu (goodnews-paper.org.uk) – is written by the editor of Good News news, adapted from a very popular message that appeared in Good News itself. The tract comes ready-folded and printed on high quality paper.
Size folded: DL (one third of A4) Price: £2.75 plus p&p for a pack of 25.

“Come, have breakfast,” Jesus said to them. None of the disciples dared to ask Him, “Who are You?” They knew it was the Lord. Jesus came and took the bread and gave it to them, and He did the same with the fish.
This was now the third time Jesus appeared to the disciples after He was raised from the dead.

HAPPY EASTER - Jesus Christ IS alive!!!
“By this gospel [good news] you are saved, if you hold firmly to the word I preached to you. Otherwise, you have believed in vain. For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the scriptures, and that he appeared to Cephas, and then to the Twelve. After that, he appeared to more than five hu...ndred of the brothers and sisters at the same time, most of whom are still living, though some have fallen asleep. Then he appeared to James, then to all the apostles, and last of all he appeared to me [Paul] also, as to one abnormally born." (1 Corinthians 15)

While they were eating, Jesus took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and gave it to his disciples, saying, “Take and eat; this is my body.” Then he took a cup, and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them, saying, “Drink from it, all of you. This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins. I tell you, I will not drink from this fruit of the vine from now on until that day when I drink it new with you in my Father’s kingdom.” When they had sung a hymn, they went out to the Mount of Olives. As we contemplate the powerful world-changing events of Easter week - how incredible is this singular fact: that God loves us!
‘But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.’ (Romans 5:8)

LAMPS, a collective of Christian theatre artists, have responded to the COVID-19 crisis by taking their planned tour of The Passion online for Easter.
Filmed in isolation in the actors' own homes, The Passion Monologues provide a bit of LAMPS light in what might feel like dark times.
The monologues - filmed by actors Emma Jane Ramsden, Dan Sears and Caleb Mitchell, cover the key events of Holy Week from the points of view of Mary Magdalene, Simon Peter and a young centurion... called Marcus and are extracts from their full production of The Passion written by Chris Matthewman and Sam Pullen-Campbell.
Director Sam Pullen-Campbell comments: “LAMPS is an acronym which stands for Love, Action, Music, Poetry and Stories – all things close to our hearts! We hope that these monologues will help to bring some key moments to life from the perspective of some key people in the Passion story.”
The introduction to the series and the first two speeches are available now; the others will be uploaded one a day from Palm Sunday through to Easter Day. The first two monologues cover the scene where Mary Magdalene anoints Jesus’ feet (Mark 14:3-9) and Peter’s first encounter with Jesus (Luke 5:1-11)
They can be accessed via the following link http://www.lampscollective.com/the-passio n-monologues
Sam continues: “We hope people find them an interesting, creative and hope- ful accompaniment to their journey through Holy Week, and wish everyone a joyful and blessed Easter when it comes.”
