About Gordon Smith Guitars

Handcrafted guitars custom built in the UK since 1974.

Born to Punk parents, used and abused by British Rock, thrashed by Grunge and the cornerstone of Indie.

We are Gordon Smith Guitars.

Gordon Smith Guitars Description

Gordon Smith are the UK’s longest running electric guitar manufacturer.

We were founded in 1974 by Gordon Whitham and John Smith and since then Gordon Smith Guitars have powered some of the world’s most famous bands.

Gordon Smith is now part of the Auden Musical Instrument Company and the team at Auden have taken over the production with the same level of skill and dedication as the original founders. With a massive investment in new machines, tools and people, Gordon Smith is set to take on the next fifty years as the UK's favourite guitars.

We cannot make the GS1000's quick enough! It is no wonder after winning Guitarist Magazines gear of the year 2018. We have recently made another four of these White GS1000 models, three are going to their new proud owners meaning we only have one left before we build some more. Want this guitar to be yours? Another great Classic T on its way to Martyn in Glasgow. The combination of the blue burst colour on the pomelle top make for a cool looking finish. Martyn specified a slightly different pick up combination to most of the Classic T's we build, having our home-wound P90 in the neck and a Humbucker in the bridge. What would you spec differently on your Classic T? #gordonsmith #handmadeintheuk #electric #guitars #classict #custombuild

User

This Classic T was collected by a very happy customer last week. Ian specified a swamp ash semi solid body with a flamed maple neck. This guitar had an amazing tone with its house-wound lipstick and single coil pick-ups. What do you think to the honey burst colour? Want to spec up your dream custom built guitar? Get in touch through our website gordonsmithguitars.com or come and visit us as Ian did here in Higham Ferrers, Northamptonshire. We are open Monday-Friday 9 am till 5 pm and also by appointment at weekends #gordonsmith #classict #handmadeintheuk #electicguitars

This Classic T is a beauty! The semi solid swamp ash body makes the guitar lightweight and comfortable. Combined with our house-wound single coil bridge pick up and lipstick pick up in the neck, this Classic T delivers a tone that any guitar player would be proud to wield. Would you gig it? This guitar is available from Souman, our new GS hub in the Netherlands #gordonsmith #handmadeintheuk #classict #electricguitars #wouldyougigit #guitars

What do you think to this GS1 60? An all mahogany guitar with a natural tobacco burst finish. With its slim body this guitar is lightweight yet produces an amazing tone and sustain with its single house-wound P90 pick up. Ideal for any gigging musician, this is a quintessential GS guitar. Well, it arrived safely in Sweden today.

Here’s my little review of my new custom Gordon Smith guitar .

This is the guitar that I asked Gordon Smith to put together for me, and all I can say is that it has surpassed my expectations! It’s everything I wanted and more....and that is even before plugging it in!

The look, the color, the finish, the feel, the acoustic tone and sustain, this guitar absolutely screams quality the second you pick it up!

I’ve owned all of the “big brands” and still do. I’ve had a multitude of top quality exclusive instruments over my 30 years as pro, but nothing can equal the feel of this incredible instrument!

I am much more than a happy person today .

User

WOW. A hand built British guitar of this build quality for under a grand. Fabulous. Great pick ups, solid mahogany 1 piece body. Light, resonant. Can't wait to debut it on stage on July1st. I'll want another one soon.

User

Stunningly good - a real guitar company you can talk to, hand made in England - what more can you ask for!

User

Still playing my GS1 from 94, still my favourite axe since I put my hands on it!

User

Recently became the proud owner of my first Gordon Smith, having played a number over the years. Beautiful, solid guitar. Sounds gorgeous and plays like a dream. Pretty sure this won't be my last :)

User

Proud owner of a 2017 GS1, full Mahogany with slim body and neck finished in trans red. Dubbed “The Frankie” in honour of Leatherface. Top company to deal with, Doug was always super helpful and GS produced a top quality guitar that sounds exactly as I wanted!

User

Just got a white GS1000 from Richards Guitars in Stratford-phenomenal guitar quality and service!! It blows away the three Gibsons I've previously owned and looks way cooler!!

User

I've played Gordon Smith guitars for 35years. I think people are blinded by big brand names, I have always found these guitars to be true quality workhorses.

I still have my first GS1 serial 00527 and play it regularly.

These guitars have brought me so much joy in my life and have never let me down.

User

I've got my 1991 GS1.5 she's been through a lot and even had to have a restoration in it's earlier life. Now in my position it's been taken care of and had plenty of play. Great sound. Great players guitar in general.

User

I own a Trans blue GS2. Great quality & looks would definitely recommend

User

I loved my GS SG - it was a beautifully crafted guitar just sang like a song bird.

Lack of funds meant that I had to sell it last year and I literally balled my eyes out. Until we meet again, my old friend <3

User

I live near their workshop and popped in today. I played one and fell in love in 10 seconds. Wonderfully made, great workshop with proper craftsmen.

I ordered a guitar their and then.

Really good attention to detail and there is something about the guitars that is special, probably because they are not mass produced on cnc machines.

I have a few months wait, but it will be worth it. The tone on the GS model I played today was mind blowing, even without it plugged into an amp.

These guys genuinely care about guitars and it shows.

I’m already selling a few more guitars now to finance another one based on the playability of the ones in stock.

10/10

User

I have 4. I'm not finished.

And they all get gigged.

(Edited) 5 now..

User

I bought a deluxe model and never looked back plays sound and feels beautiful

User

Hand made in the UK; real time conversations; amazing sounding pickups; amazing build quality and feeling instruments. Genuinely wonderful playing guitars, hand made, and at a reasonable price. I cannot recommend these guys highly enough. My GS2 is my #1 guitar.

User

Hand built by people who know what they are doing. The best session / gigging musicians guitar you can buy. Great sounds from any pickup selections. Fab action ( once set up). Enough said.

User

Had my leftie SG1 with SD Jeff beck HB since 1997 it is simply an amazing guitar, it still plays as well as the day I bought it and has never required a set up!

The sound is getting better and better with age and I will be taking it to the grave when that day finally arrives

User

Fantastic guitars. Amazing playability and sound!

User

Best guitars I've ever played. I have 3 currently and very rarely do any of my other guitars get a look in. I've been playing professionally for over 20 years and 99% of anything I've used electric guitar for has been played on one of my GS Guitars.
